Oor Nicola Sturgeon thread.

Polling figures will likely swing slightly in favour of the SNP after today, possibly with more tomorrow if the tories don't withdraw their hilarious VonC. There was some heavy political pressure bearing down on this inquiry to try and get Sturgeon out which has fallen on its arse. Wonder if there'll be further look at the conduct of the committee?

FWIW.

If only the decision had been in the hands of someone who was not an appointee to the SNP if may have side-stepped the issue of his neutrality. The Party should have gone for someone-else who could have been seen to be independent as this was not just an internal Party affair (excuse the pun!).

This may even have repercussions for James Hamilton's position as President of the International Association of Prosecutors.

If you read the Wike info below it mentions that he was involved with a broadly similar situation with the Welsh Government. After that the First Minister there didn't last long and he became deeply unpopular.

This could come back to haunt the Party and Hamilton and no amount of sincerity is going to change the details of the relationships involved. They are a matter of public record and will take a huge amount of glossing over for this matter to be put to rest.

James Hamilton (barrister) - Wikipedia

James Hamilton, SC (born 20 March 1949), is an Irish barrister and administrator who served as the Director of Public Prosecutions at the Republic of Ireland's Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions from 1999 to 2011. In September 2010, Hamilton was elected President of the International Association of Prosecutors, succeeding Francois Falletti.[1]

Hamilton became Director of Public Prosecutions in 1999, succeeding Eamonn Barnes.[2] Before becoming Director of Public Prosecutions, Hamilton was a practising barrister and was head of the office of the Attorney General of Ireland.

James Hamilton is a former advisor to and member of the Scottish National Party. He was appointed as an independent advisor to the Scottish Government on the ministerial code in 2013 and was reappointed by Nicola Sturgeon in 2015.[3] He was also appointed to the same role by the Welsh Government.[4] In 2017, he concluded that Welsh First Minister Carwyn Jones did not mislead the Senedd over what he knew about bullying allegations at the top level of government.[5] Hamilton also conducted an investigation into whether Sturgeon had breached the Scottish ministerial code during the Scottish Government's investigation into sexual harassment complaints made against Alex Salmond.[6] This was paused in 2019 and resumed in August 2020.[7] And in March 2021, his report was published.[8]

If there isn't, then it'd be a joke. They've done an unbelievable amount of damage.

Whitewashing is a lucrative industry. Lord Hutton is obviously the daddy but I'm sure Hamilton will go from strength to strength.

Thinking about you at this difficult time x

Tories will presumably still go ahead with their pathetic VONC just to cement their staunch credentials ahead of May. They know they can't win it, but if Labour abstain then they can give it the shite about how they are the only party that can be trusted to properly oppose the SNP, etc.

Don't think anyone serious has questioned his impartiality thus far and even the spectator have stated it's an independent report

Humza Yousaf currently getting the presenter telt on the BBC News Channel.   I've never quite bought the whole BBC bias stuff as much as some but you can tell some of them are absolutely desperate to find some slither of guilt.
