Sounds like a bit of last-minute desparation. Yes well the last-minute swoop for Dusan Vlahovic didn't go to plan.

Seemingly played with Maloney and perhaps Samson is too 'old regime' for the brave new world being ushered in at Easter Road. In all I'd be pretty happy with the window if it wasn't for the injuries sustained during it and for the fact that seemingly both those Norwegian lads are initially for Steve Kean's benefit rather than that of the first team. What gets my goat most however is punting players like Mackay, Tait and Bradley out on loan. Perhaps I'm too fond for the unknown, but I liked the idea of giving some of the bright stars of the Championship a go in the first team. As it is we look very light centrally so I reckoned Tait could have done some good there but at-least he'll be getting game-time. And perhaps, you never know but perhaps Allan might be able to sign off his Hibs career with some more memorable moments. Melkersen is here for the first team. He’s effectively about 2 weeks in to pre season so it’s hardly surprising he’s not featured yet. I’d be surprised if he’s not been in the squad by the Arbroath game. That coupled with Clarke and now Magennis picking up injuries in bounce games has just taken the shine off of what was a pretty decent window overall

Think they are getting mixed up with the young Norwegian striker we bought, dont think this guy was expensive. We are definitely paying fees for some of these B team players, but generally small ones, in the hope that they do well and have a sell on value down the line. Although the first team needs some work (and Jan aint the best time to do it) there seems to be a similar strategy where we will take on loans - but only with an option to buy in 6 months instead of maybe losing them elsewhere.

Cheers lads Decent player who struggled to find a steady spot in the team that he could hold down for more than a couple of matches at a time. He is certainly more likely to shine in a relegation threatened side where his defensive qualities will be needed.

WestHibee
With McPake departing from Dundee. Where he had a decent record of bringing through young players (Mulligan, Robertson, Cameron) when he was in-charge of the U18s and then as First Team Manager would he be the worst kind of person for us to approach to assist Steve Kean with the U18s/Development Squad. Maybe a bit out there but we have found room for several ex-managerial jobbers, mostly of the Edinburgh City ilk (McDonaugh & Jardine), in our youth set up so why not McPake.
