I think he needs brought back from the dead to clear this up once and for all. I’m not sure if it was him who set up the just giving page or not, he never specified.

John McCabe, Spartans club secretary, told the BBC Scotland news website, how Mr O'Grady was at the club when he heard the news of the fire.

He said: "Grim saw smoke in the distance and made a joke saying 'I hope it isn't my house' and then five minutes later his son phoned and said it was their house on fire.

"He was in an awful panic as he was worried about his pets.

"His whole house is gutted and his family only have the clothes on their backs, they have lost everything else.

"He is such a great man that we felt we must help him in any way we can so he can buy food and clothes and pay for accommodation."

He added: "We have had a big response from the community in just 12 hours with donations and even Central Taxis has given him taxi vouchers so he can get around during this hard time.

"He does so much for people in north Edinburgh that they want to help him."

The football club started the collection with a contribution of £500 and a Just Giving page set up has now had almost £3,500 worth of donations.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said it was still investigating the cause of the fire.

Pretty sure it wasn’t him and again, that was his justification for taking the money. He didn’t specifically ask for it. Someone spammed every forum/sub forum in here razing awareness about Grim’s mishap and linked to the just giving and the news story etc.

Btw, in lieu of anything else happening on this thread, a greenie for anyone who guesses the name of the P+B poster who shares his / her name with the bird (left one) in this picture.

Let's not forget Grimbos one man pub crawl which he felt the need to update us on from every fucking pub.

That was one of the most poignant episodes on the forum. If someone had sneakily filmed it and edited in the increasingly desolate posts, it could have won at Cannes.

Did I just read that P&B members donated money to Grimbo over a story on the internet?

O'Grady was horrific, but I always thought the comments about his pets were out of order.

Grimbo sometimes played along with it though and joked about it himself, then other times would take offence. As a starting point it’s absolutely not nice to read a joke about your pets being killed but dark humour is a coping mechanism and Grim seemed well aware of this and often played along yet could turn it into “woe is me” at other times.

We have to remember that without these brave pets and public generosity there might have been crispy tenants instead.

While some of the comments could have been seen as taking things too far, it's worth acknowledging that posters only started getting that harsh on him at the point where he was making jokes about going on holidays with other people's money with a resentful, arrogant tone, beyond just stating the facts of owning a second home and going on a cruise.

He brought every bit of stick he got on himself, with his persecution complex always kicking in after he instigated every discussion about the subject with thinly veiled comments that were intended to send a massive get it up you to everyone who had an issue with his conduct, rather than being limited to just making threads about himself like the narcissistic w****r he clearly is.

Grimbo was a good c**t, just twished lots of posters up the wrong way. If half of you knew him personally (which I don't apart from PMs) you would change your perception rather quickly. The things he does of his own back in his local community is a touch of greatness. Something you sniping cheapshots can only dream. How he whipped you all up was class.
Long live Grimbo

Aye he whipped us all up which is why we all had a couple of spectacular meltdowns and got banned twice from the forum.

Oh wait....

So he used to PM you all the good things he did off his own back for his local community? What a truly selfless, altruistic character. He's basically Bono.
