What's the most "Tin Pot" thing you've seen in the SPFL

Billy Fullerton was a local organiser for the British Union of Fascists in the 1930s. Beginning later that decade, hundreds of thousands of Brits lost their lives fighting against fascism. It's surprising that men publicly singing a song in his honour aren't met with a violent response.

True but reality can be a bit more complex

My great uncle was in the BUF. He got shot dead while fighting Nazis in the invasion of Sicily

With that ambiguous baddies/goodies history I was never all that sure how I should feel about him

Then I found out that he used to follow Chelsea so he was obviously a baddie

I wish a lot of our support would wisen up when it comes to the billy boys, definitely needs dropped.

What have Hearts and Hibs been up to now?

I'm giving this 4/10

Feigning misunderstanding for comic effect is something I'm a big fan of (as regular readers will no doubt have noticed) and I'd never condemn anybody for trying it but the execution is sadly lacking

One can't help but think that you should have come up with a sillier punchline that would have delivered more comedic payload

For example maybe using Dumbarton and Stenhousemuir

You are entitled to appeal your grade but bear in mind it could go down instead of up on review

It lingers on at Tynecastle and Rugby Park as well principally because "Marching through Georgia" is just a really good tune.

Other objectionable songs I remember from my youth have died off and are now about as popular as Gary Glitter while Hello Hello is more like classic Michael Jackson

When I started going, it was heard in quite a few places not just Ibrox, Tynecastle, Rugby Park and Dens as it is these days. It used to be sung at some Motherwell games actually - never regularly and typically against Celtic, so take from that what you will (it had utterly died out by the early 90's).

When a small minority the entirety of Ibrox sung it, (for example to drown out a lengthy chorus of "Richard Gough - Child Molester" from Motherwell supporters) it's still honestly the loudest "football" song I've ever heard live.

Keep practising, you'll get it right eventually.

It had stopped with us for a few years though the offensive behaviour bill obviously played a part in that, as folk were too scared of the consequences to sing it.

In Europe the threat of sanctions usually means that both sets of old firm fans tend not to step out of line.

Ten out 4, that's no bad.

Cheers.

Maybe all the Celtic / Rangers ‘banter’ should be returned to the Celtic / Rangers fenced off section of the forum.

I think when it's them getting called out for being sectarian bigots it should be in the main forum for everyone to see.

Added to the fact that their ongoing behaviour, especially when paired with eachother, is the most tin pot minter imaginable.

Yer’ arse. Want to look at the list of fines handed down over recent years for the songbooks, the banners, the behaviour at certain other games? Reading someone posting, in seemingly serious fashion too, that Old firm fans watch their Ps & Qs for fear of European sanctions nearly made me actually soil my breeks. The beaks should have been handing down closed-doors punishments at the very least, rather than a derisory fine after fine, with an associated slap on the wrist and a ‘gonnae no’ dae’ that’ edict issued to Old firm clubs due to fans very much stepping out of line season after season, time after time.

Catchy or not when it carries such synonymous baggage with that mob in Govan why it’s still a thing in 2023 is the riddest of rid necks.

Our game is littered with it, the other cheek belts out the Liverpool anthem as if it’s their own weekly with zero shame and fucks given. I mean the world are even in the Shankly gates and on the scousers badge.
