Mark Connolly
Gray also said they probably won't need public money. They should be told to GTF if they want any. Where is the public appeal to rebuild the ABC, which has probably had a greater effect on the lives of Glaswegians than the Art School?

Then goes on to announce it definitely will be rebuilt because "it's non-negotiable" and the trustees "are completely unanimous about this and it's not up for discussion". So basically a blank cheque, then?Meanwhile the ceiling of a neighbouring art gallery - outside the safety cordon, but accessed using an entrance inside it - has collapsed after a toilet was left leaking for 3 months. Now if only that had happened at the Glasgow School of Art, the fire might never have taken hold...
Savage Henry
Now if only that had happened at the Glasgow School of Art, the fire might never have taken hold...People would have mistaken it for an “installation” if it had.
Mark Connolly
Little bump for this, as it's confirmed that the owners of the ABC have submitted an application for demolition. I'm probably more pissed off than I should be that its destruction has received significantly less than that of the building up the hill, despite its history as a part of Glasgow life as a cinema, live music venue and nightclub, amongst others.

Happens a lot to some old buildings in Falkirk that are classed as listed but somehow end up in an inferno when the building/school etc is lying there empty and they cant demolish it due to it being listed.
Sherrif John Bunnell
The investigation into the cause of the fire is complete. Muriel Gray remains at large. CCTV footage from St Aloysius College captured a lone figure in a car park three hours after the fire was started. The person appeared to watch the fire crews for 78 minutes. However, they have never been traced. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-60111191
Florentine_Pogen
https://www.architectsjournal.co.uk/news/opinion/why-we-wont-be-applying-to-rebuild-the-mac-under-the-gsas-selection-formula "In short, different mathematical formulas combine the quality scores of bids and bid prices differently. In certain scenarios, such as when scores and prices are close, it is possible that one formula may select a different winning bid compared with another formula, even when all other conditions in the competition are the same. Choosing the right formula for any competition is therefore a key decision that needs to be tested, as it can be material to the outcome. That’s the theory. So out of the four methods that can be used, Scotland chooses to apply the worst one across all its contracts. For emphasis, this formula (and derivatives) was used widely by UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) procurements from 2006 until 2019 when it was formally superseded as it was proven to be a ‘critical flawed formula that adds risk to any tendering process’. The MoD will not procure missiles using the 60:40 method but the Scottish Government will for our public buildings. Surely in a post-Grenfell world, post-Edinburgh PFI Schools enquiry and on the basis that the Glasgow School of Art has burned to the ground twice, we might take a minute to consider."
