Craig Whyte is ripe for ridicule but Tam Cowan clearly isn't funny enough to do it well. He seemed aggrieved at any slight of 'Sir David Murray' I haven’t heard anything of today’s programmes myself , but maybe Tam was very conscious (either off his own bat or by order from above) of the recent controversy involving Michael Stewart , Jim Traynor and Sportsound. His perception of 2012 and what lead to it ranks alongside his idea that Sydney Devine is the peak of Western civilisation. Spoiler The facts are that Rangers used questionable EBTs to avoid paying tax on players they basically couldnt afford and went on to win many trophies in the process - ergo, cheating. The taxman caught up with them and they were liquidated. Subsequently some balloons bought the assets and a new club arrived on the scene and has been run / owned by a variety of shysters / liars / proto-criminals which continues to give the rest of us some amusement. That people like David Murray appear to have got away scot free is actually the biggest scandal and demonstrates that the "Scottish Establishment" looks after its own.
