It's like the famous (in maths at least) question about whether you'd like to be given £1m for a whole month, or 1p on the first day of the month, 2p on the second day, 4p on the third and so on, with the amount doubling each day. Most people would take the first option, but in fact the second option would be worth roughly £21.5m in a month with 31 days. Ignorance of which makes so many fall into pyramid scams, also why viruses can't replicate for ever. Just been told by the dealers that they are closing tonight for the foreseeable future, and apparently all the other chains are doing the same. Not complaining as such, but I can't imagine there'll be much left open by the end of the week other than food shops, chemists, and hospitals. Arnold Clark by any chance? Apparently closing all stores on Wednesday night "right through", whatever that means. My first day back at work, boss has been booking jobs in for next week so... Confirmed once theres a shutdown theyll use this 80% grant thing to pay me, so at least I won't be out of a job. Other mechanics not so lucky, another garage paying off a few staff as the manager debates that he will still have pay their wages and then wait for the money to be compensated by the government, which he reckons will take months.

Hurricane Neddy was on Channel 4 over the weekend, great episode. Now that everyone is staying at home: what you watching? I've got a one-year-old to look after so it's been tricky to watch as much stuff as I'd like, but I've mapped out my short-term TV bingeing. Currently got Better Call Saul (series 4), Arrested Development (series 5), Stranger Things (series 1) and Hunters (series 1) on the go. Downloaded four films too: Joker, 1917, Jojo Rabbit and The Peanut Butter Falcon. Get the recommendations in. I was so mad at how much they bungled the final couple of seasons of Game of Thrones that I started The Expanse immediately after. Would recommend. It's pretty predictable but it executes the landing every season really well, the stakes and plot are well established and engaging and it looks great.

From Tuesday, thousands of staff working on beauty counters such as No7, Liz Earle, Benefit, Fenty and fragrance will not be required to go to work in Boots stores. However, they will be given the option of switching to other roles in store if they so wish. In line with restrictions on physical distancing, Boots Opticians and Hearingcare stores across the UK will close, although a fraction will remain open to help those with “essential eye and hearing care needs”. These can be viewed tomorrow here. Seb James, managing director of Boots UK, said: Boots has a unique role to play during this time, and our duty and focus is to ensure that pharmacy, healthcare and a wide range of the essential products that we sell are available to those who need them. I want to thank the teams for their outstanding dedication in keeping our pharmacies and stores open. Boots continues to be a place of trust for those who need us. In its struggle to meet shoppers’ demands for essentials such as hand sanitiser and family medication, the retailer has warned staff that its warehouses only contain enough supply of paracetamol for another week and a half and that stocks could be depleted by the end of next week. Passed Boots on Byres Road and there was the typical folk waiting outside due to only 4 people allowed in at time. It has two entrances, when I passed the other one I noticed someone was in buying their lunch

peasy23
I love this. Yet I don't understand it.One of my workmates didn't either. He had this "foolproof" method to win at the casino. Start putting £10 on a 50/50 shot like red or black. If it wins, pocket your tenner winnings and start again. If it loses, double your stake until you win. Great in theory, until one night he was trying to scrape £320 to stake after losing 5 on the spin.
