Simply put, and it really is simple - we kept numbers down through control measures. We aren't getting "back" to anything - even allowing you could get thousands upon thousands of commuters into city centres safely, how the blue fúck are you going to get them up into the dozens of floors of the blocks where they work? The employers overwhelmingly have been pleasantly surprised that their drones have performed quite acceptbly while working remotely.  Pret and Costa are fúcked, and they're probably getting used to the idea and planning alternative business models. Those commercial landlords who rely on income from office space in city centres? Fúck 'em, they're parasites.

As long as pension schemes haven't invested in them, or are commercial landlords in their own right, I'm sure there will be no consequences for anyone else.

Jack's not in a great mood at the minute, confined to barracks awaiting his wee sister's Covid-19 results. He's only started back at Tech, so that's been knocked on the head, although one of his mates is away in despite his younger brother having been sent home from school with a cough. Not sure if it's the same class or even school as Jack's wee sister.

Unless everyone is playing by the same rules this thing is never going to be hit on the head.

Of course there will be consequences - and I'm looking at three years before I can get my hands on my pension, so I could well be affected. Capitalism has been eating itself for a few years though, and this pandemic could well be the catalyst which brings forward the inevitable reckoning and, hopefully, reset. It's not like the working classes haven't been suffering for decades under this system, so for me a bit more pain will be made more bearable if those who have lived off others' efforts end up in the gutter. I repeat - fúck 'em.

Going back into lockdown seems like such a heavy handed move, and I reckon it won't be complied with by a large minority of people (rendering it much less effective).

Surely we have to plug away with the system we've got. It's not ideal, but masks and other measures are keeping the spread lower than it would be otherwise. On top of that, our hospitals are much better placed to deal with the patients who do arrive.

I just don't think the public will support this.

It's going to be massively watered down though isnt it. I agree with what you are saying, I think folk breaking the current rules is at the heart of the issue and doing more to enforce them, rather than apply more rules that the same people wont follow is the way to go.
