It goes without saying obviously but you'd really expect this sort of detail to be ironed prior to the statement. As things stand the FM's speech was worse than useless as we await the full guidance being published.

Bearing in mind the actual literature is a bit sketchy but I suspect that infection rates with someone right next to you is pretty similar, mask or no.

Jan Vojáček
What this has confirmed to me is that I'll be going down south on holiday later this month when I'm off, and not staying in Scotland. I've never been in a nightclub in my puff, and have no desire to be in one. But I'd like a few days in a country that feels like normality and not some weird, rule-obsessed nanny-state. As an aside, my brother and his pals at the pub last night. One of his pals doesn't have a mask, so isn't allowed in. My brother takes a used mask from his pocket, gives it to his pal and he's allowed in. A stupid box ticking exercise.
Dunning1874
Still no actual breakdown of what exactly is going to be in place for each sector, this press release is all they've got up for beyond Level 0 and there's nothing there that wasn't in the speech. Often a sign that they haven't actually made their fucking minds up about specifics yet. https://www.gov.scot/news/scotland-to-move-beyond-level-0/

scottsdad
Just looked at the guidance for universities that has been published, Quote Institutions should ensure measures go further than the minimum baseline where that is necessary to keep people safe. This could include, for example, limiting student numbers in lectures; keeping class lists for test and protect purposes; hand-sanitisation stations; one-way systems; face coverings; voluntary physical distancing and / or provision of materials to clean surfaces. So absolutely no change for me and my fellow lecturers compared to level zero, or indeed level 1. We have been planning based on class sizes and capacities with social distancing. That will not change. Looks like we're full on blended learning for the next academic year.
Thereisalight..
Absolute given that the likes of Biffy Clyro and TRNSMT at Glasgow green next month will be shelved or vaccine status shite. Cant see GCC giving the green light for 40k or so youngsters to get off their nut outside

I was down in Manchester at the weekend, maybe about 1 in 20 still wearing masks, no more than that. No contact details needed to sit in a restaurant. It was absolutely brilliant. Masks and contact tracing details still being required is an absolute pisser. Proper, big, indoor family gatherings are allowed again now though, so that's something at least.

As someone pointed out, clubs haven't got any existing rules as they've been closed, so they haven't had any mask mandate.

Take any generation in this country and cut it in half and you'll see the words "coward by birth" printed right across the face of it. I never bought into the gallus thing but I genuinely thought we were better than this. It's genuinely shocking to discover that our real character is the exact opposite. What's been really interesting is watching the Lovejoys sneering at Libertarians from the "safety" of their chains and cages, genuinely thinking their chains somehow make them morally superior. It's like watching caged budgies taking the piss out of pigeons for having the audacity to want to fly wherever they want. Utterly bizarre behaviour. Calm your tits. Folk are rightly annoyed at this nannying rubbish which appears to be a fudge to try and be safer than england yet keep everyone happy, but nobody's in cages or chains ffs.

Unless it's an oxygen mask you're all breathing the same air in a packed subway carriage. If we hark back to the start of this when master Leitch told us masks wouldn't be that useful to us and we were just keeping our distance, it makes absolutely no sense to remove any distancing and keep masks. It's pretty telling that the only people coming out in support of this idiotic rule are those who seem to enjoy some form of schadenfreude over having an actual, sensible government in charge.
