A 20 min uber to the airport was about a fiver, and the tip options were something ridiculous like 20p, 40p or £1 Think it was less than £1 to get the tram in to town as well Believe it or not but Krakow is by far the most expensive of all the ones I listed, followed by Sopot and Gdansk. If you liked Krakow you'll love the others as they're less commercialised but still very friendly with lots to see and do.

DeeTillEhDeh
Jet2 just announced theyre doing holiday flights from 1st July, wonder how that will work. The UK should have shut borders in March, fucking weeks of people coughing and spluttering at airport borders with no checks, even coming in from Italy and Spain at the height of all this and now the stupid tory p***ks think a quarantine is needed as the virus is falling in the properly prepared world, quarantine should be for countries like US, Brazil etc who’ve made the same clusterfuck of this as we have. Not quite - they've just shifted the start up date - my brother just got an email saying his holiday on 28 June is cancelled.

pandarilla
I quite like a short golfing trip to the highlands to the likes of Grantown on Spey, Kingussie, Boat of Garten etc and I also quite like the North East of England, however the English seaside resorts are all pretty tacky and poor for accommodation, lack of decent restaurants etc, not to mention a rather neddish clientele. Over and above all this the prices are completely outrageous and the quality of product just isn't there. Poland is unbeatable for quality, climate and value for money, whether you're looking for a beach holiday such as Sopot or a great family friendly Town such as Torun or a City break in the likes of Gdansk, Poznan, Warsaw, Wroclaw, Bydgoszcz as prime candidates, it all just makes you wonder why ANYONE would choose to holiday in the UK if they could avoid it.There are plenty of fucking great places in the UK.Far too many folk think it's cool to slag off your own country (be it Scotland or the uk).I've never really understood it.

DeeTillEhDeh
There are lots of amazing places across Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales to visit that match up with Europe (if you get the weather). That also charge an arm and leg for doing so.

super_carson
I'm looking forward to getting over to Arran at some point this summer, my mum was from Brodick and it's one of my favourite places. There are some decent places in Scotland and the UK to visit, but we've all become accustomed to foreign holidays. Glad there's no quarantine for flights to ROI though, the Mrs is a Dubliner and hasn't seen her mum since Februrary - she was quite anxious she wouldn't get to see her tell the end of the year. Taking 2 weeks off coming back would have been a problem...

Inanimate Carbon Rod
There are a lot of great places - unfortunately it is also hard to get value for money.A lot of our hotels are absolute shiteholes, the big ones up loch lomondside, Arrochar and Loch Long hotels etc utterly shite, restaurants in the highlands with ‘we dont serve food between 2-4’ mentalities, any restaurant in Scotland serving ready cut chips and shitey pastry steak pies etc is a disgrace considering the produce we have. Scotland is potentially one of the most desirable tourist destinations in the world but on the whole we get the delivery fucking shite and charge tourists a fortune for completely shite hotels and processed food. The wha’s like us shortbread tin shite doesnt make for an appealing holiday for a lot of people.

Don’t know about the hotels you are mentioning, but everything else there is a 30 year old + stereotype. There are tons of places serving great food with great service. But because we’re brought up on these stereotypes, we believe them. I’ve got a house in Brodick, and there are 4 or 5 really good food options in the village with locally sourced produce, and not all are overly expensive. None have a “don’t serve food between 2 and 4 mentality”

I've already acknowledged this in a previous post, however I've also put my reasons as to why I prefer avoiding here for main holidays, so it's not as if I've just indiscriminately "slagged off the country". Still, there's no right or wrong and everyone is entitled to their opinion.
