Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Recommended Posts

Greece has been on the Scotland quarantine list for a while. Some islands were exempt in England.
Italy is a strange one. They've avoided the second wave so far. Their schools reopened on 14 September but I'm sure that isn't what has caused cases there to increase in the last few days.
Another mystery!
It's amazing how a rise in cases in most countries coincide with the opening of schools but its absolutely nothing to do with schools being open.

Im glad that people are starting to understand its nothing to do with schools, its libraries and sporting events that are the enemy.
Fantastic that our politicians treat as like absolute wallopers tbh.  Still awaiting grown up chat.
Then again the great British public voted for Brexit so maybe they feel entitled to treat us that way...
You've got it all wrong, we must shut the pubs at 845, that'll surely solve the problem and if that doesn't work we'll shut them at 730.

Tell me what other figures I could have used to make a judgement? I think for most people this has been a bolt from the blue - the truth only started to emerge late Wednesday and was not out in the public domain until midday. I have not found anything that even gave an inkling that something was not right.

By the way you still haven't answered the question I asked last week.

How do you screen share with a pupil that doesn't have access to a computer?

Your modus operandi of hiding behind your keyboard and being an obnoxious c**t to all and sundry is just fucking tiresome.

Now take your gravestone teeth and go do one.

The latest schools information has been publsihed by the Scottish Government - https://www.gov.scot/binaries/content/documents/govscot/publications/transparency-data/2020/09/covid-19-education-recovery-group-children-and-young-people-infographic/documents/children-and-young-people-infographic-01-october-2020/children-and-young-people-infographic-01-october-2020/govscot%3Adocument/CERG%2BInfographic%2B-%2B01102020.pdf

259 children and young people aged 2-17 tested positive last week.

There's been a slight increase in the number of staff absent due to Covid, from 1548 to 1571.

Doesn't seem like there's going to be information on the locations of outbreaks or information from contact tracing.

Also if we close schools children will fail to be educated and parents will be unable to work
Is this not why the government were meant to be implementing a distanced learning plan for schools instead of hearding back thousands of children back into overcrowded classrooms?

Children can't be expected to learn from books, computers and video conferencing for half of the school week apparently.

Clearly if a child does not have access to a computer or a tablet, a school will be able to provide them with one or they will be able to attend the school "hub" just like during the proper lockdown.

Although there has been no guidance from government yet, teachers have been holding meetings in regards to blended learning in the last week in the 3 schools where I know members of staff.

Hopefully the parents are preparing for the inevitable and there won't be the usual "no one saw this coming" tears and snotters in a few weeks.

So that's what? 8% of all positive cases in that week attributable to kids age 2-17?

And 0.13% of schools shut.

The government has choices, and usually these are that the severity of measures increases where the number of cases is very high.

The highest level of lockdown on a regional basis (in England) is now akin to the national lockdown. This means non-essential business are shut and mixing of households is banned. However, schools are allowed to continue.

Given that mixing of households is banned, why are we allowing the mixing of 30 households together in a small room in areas where popping round to a friend's house is deemed to be an activity carrying a high risk and is therefore prohibited?

I don't think we should just shut the schools, but the prevailing mentality where they must be prioritised above everything else is irritating. If an area has an infection rate deemed so severe that only essential shops can remain open, the schools should be shut too.
