Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Recommended Posts

In France

Recommendations have been put out as to medicines to avoid that may worsen Covid-19 symptoms, after a 28-year-old man who had been taking regular ibuprofen died from acute respiratory distress.

People are being advised to avoid non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen and naproxen if they believe they are suffering from Covid-19 symptoms, as these may make the condition worse.

Instead, people are advised to take paracetamol - while still always respecting the approved doses.

Health Minister Olivier Véran first made the warning to avoid ibuprofen if you show Covid-19 symptoms on March 14  (although there was later some confusion as the World Health Organisation appeared to contradict the advice).

Mr Véran said however that if you are already taking an anti-inflammatory drug and believe you may have the virus you should consult your doctor for advice and should not simply stop taking it.

Also

Use of the drug chloroquine, more commonly used to treat malaria, has been officially authorised for ‘serious’ forms of Covid-19.

The announcement was made by Health Minister Olivier Véran, following the go-ahead of public health watchdog le Haut conseil de santé public; however the minister said it should not be used for less serious forms.

The drug has already been making headlines due to its unofficial use in a Marseille hospital where would-be patients have been queuing up to potentially be treated with it, and its inclusion in European (including French) official trials in search of treatments.

However officials say prudence is needed and say it is necessary to follow formal clinical testing protocols.

According to Prof Didier Raoult, who initially tested chloroquine on 24 patients, three-quarters of the people treated recovered within six days.

Carly Rae Jepsen is a whole new discussion for an entire evening. Can’t wait tbh

Call Me Maybe is the best pop song of the last decade, there’s nothing further to discuss with regards to that.

On the subject of Gaga, Bad Romance is the correct answer.

Should make it like the way they name storms these days. Have an ‘A’ artist tomorrow, ‘B’ the next. Help count down the lockdown days with ZZ Top in 26 days time. Or, er, erm, Zinedine Zidane. Fcuk. Zutons. Only got one tune though. Zerra One, nah, poor man’s U2. Zero 7 - great chilled sounds for these troubled times. Zac Brown Band are awesome... it’s on this forum, and it’s live!  See you in 26 days time.
ABBA tomorrow?
