Coronavirus and the Scottish Championship

Top flight clubs aren't going to vote to expand the top flight, not in a season when they've all been promised record amounts of cash.

Maybe so but what have ICT got to lose?

Money and clarity is all. Unless the league season is completed they won't be getting promoted regardless of any vote.

Championship up in the air

Despite reports that Championship clubs have rejected the proposals, Record Sportunderstands that not all clubs have been informed of the result.

That could change, but as things stand there’s no clarity on what has been decided.

I always assumed it would fail, the SPFL have a fantastic track record at making a mess of things, why change now?

So, what's next? If it is another few weeks of everyone making up endless scenario after endless scenario then I for one cannot wait...

The Three Musketeers of Sporting Integrity.

Don't propose something you know fine well is deliberately unfair (finishing the season based on points average) and offer a wishy-washy promise as a mitigation of that unfairness (we'll maybe consider reconstruction if you vote for this).

Own the unfairness or provide actual mitigation as part of the proposed decision.

Dundee, ICT and Partick Thistle, you are hereby added to my enemies list, alongside steakandgravy, Barry Smith and Ann Budge.

One and the same tbf.

What's next then?

Presumably the next few months will just be a succession of proposals put forward by a gaggle of squabbling clubs all trying to f**k over everyone else to their club benefits.

We'll then hit July, rush into a stupid decision as time is running out and half the clubs in the country barely have squads, and everyone will be worse off.

By the end of May most of the clubs in the country won't have squads (unless some compromise of short term extensions to allow continued furlough has been arrived at).

But otherwise yes, there will be some counter proposal imminently moving the goalposts somewhere to get Inverness or Dundee on Board. If it's only one club out it's not that far away.
