mizfit
If my gran was alive she’d be shedding tears. She made it no secret to us that she had a crush on Sean Connery whenever James Bond was mentioned in her presence

Fullerene
2 hours ago, Shotgun said: From Wikipedia: At a muscular 6'2", Connery was initially met with disapproval from Fleming, who believed he was an overgrown stuntman lacking the finesse and elegance to play James Bond; he envisaged a suave actor, such as David Niven, playing the role. Producer Albert R. Broccoli—known to all as Cubby—disagreed with Fleming's view, later commenting that "I wanted a ballsy guy ... put a bit of veneer over that tough Scottish hide and you've got Fleming's Bond instead of all the mincing poofs we had applying for the job". David Niven played James Bond in the 1967 film Casino Royale that also starred Woody Allen and Peter Sellers. Definitely not the best Bond film. I always suspected Ian Fleming would have preferred someone like Edward Fox for the role.

diegomarahenry
There are two stories about Sean Connery in Rodger Moore's book. Once at a party hosted by Lana Turner, Rodger was dancing with Lana when her then boyfriend, a well known gangster made it clear that they should stop, Rodger said he bottled it and went and sat down, later at the party, Sean was dancing with Lana and the same thing happened, only this time, Sean decked the gangster. He said that he was definitely the best Bond after that. The second was when Moore tried tried to patch up the relationship between Broccoli and Connery, he invited them both to lunch without telling them the other was coming. Broccoli opened by saying that he'd read recently Sean had told press that he wouldn't even "piss in Cubby's ear if his brain was on fire" Sean replied saying, Oh, I would definitely piss in your ear if your brain was on fire.

Bully Wee Villa
Medicine Man was alright, as I recall. Not sure why that's only on 19%. Have never seen, or even previously heard of, the number one on the list.
Shandon Par
Driving by Turnberru as a kid in the back of my aunt’s Metro. She slams on the brakes and pulls in to the car park, having clocked what the crowd of people milling around is about. “It’s Sean Connery!” my mum and aunt are shrieking. By then I’d heard of him but didn’t know much more. We get out and I expect to see some bronzed young Hollywood hunk when I clock the person in question and feel quite shocked at the behaviour of all the shrieking women. I point and tell them “BUT HE’S AN OLD MAN!” and nearly get lynched. The woman slapping stuff is deeply troubling though. Even more than his Zardoz outfit. Strange how I've never seen you berating your club for hiring Neil Lennon then. After seeing the success, he decided that the next time he was offered something he didn't understand, he'd jump at it hence the clusterfuck that was The League of Extraordinary Gentleman. After that was released - he thought, nah f**k this, I'm done. That and the fact that Steven Seagal broke Sean Connery's wrist and he didn't realise until many years later. Not only offered the role but a % of the box office - $350M I read somewhere! .....and just think of the names he'd have had to get his tongue around - Frodo Bagginsh & Shamwise Gamgee. RIP Big Man
