Albion Rovers 1-0 Brora Rangers
Elgin City 1-2 Clydebank
Lothian Thistle HV 2-1 Dunbar United
Rothes 0-1 Dalbeattie Star

Clydebank deliver another non-league shock at SPFL2 opposition while Dalbeattie also impress.

This season has been the stuff of nightmares for the Highland League: newly-relegated Brechin are their only representative to reach R3 in contrast to 5 from Lowland, 3 from East of Scotland, 3 from West and 1 from North Juniors. Chastening experience for the venerable northerners...

Bit of a nightmare for the HFL but I see it as a positive sign that Scottish football is sorting itself out and in 10 years time we should have a genuine meritocracy in the game

Never has a club from tier 7 made it past the Second Round: indeed Haddington and Preston last season were the first to make it that far. (It was also called the 'First Round' in 2020-21 if we're being pedantic). They're all underdogs but tantalising to see if Dunipace, Haddington or Preston could make history this time around.

None of them did.

EDIT: There have also been relatively few instances of a club from tier 6 making it past the Second Round. By my reckoning only LTHV in 2015-16 (when they went onto reach R4) and again in 2017-18; Penicuik, Linlithgow and Broxburn (who also made R4) in 2019-20; Linlithgow again and Tranent last season. Never outwith of EOS yet.

LTHV, Sauchie, Tranent, Auchinleck, Clydebank, Darvel and Banks o'Dee all did.

If any of those three got to the next round and were drawn against a Championship or top L1 team they would also make history with the largest gap between two sides since the pyramid was introduced (currently 54: St Mirren v Broxburn).

This remains intact - biggest gap seems low 40s, from Auchinleck and Sauchie to Hamilton and Dumbarton.

Would basically need a top half Premiership team to draw a tier 6 side in the next round to beat it.
