I find the whole thing a bit alien to me now. The job I am doing I would earn a reasonable salary in Glasgow(last I seen was 28-32 dependent on experience) which would have me pretty much on the average, which I think is about 30k a year now, and a bit above the median, which the last I checked I think was 28k. I’d get by but would probably need to watch exactly what I am spending. Over here they still pay financial sector employees a fairly ludicrous premium, which, even in my job which isn’t that well paid for this sector, puts me well above both average and median. I’m not complaining, but it has probably left me with a fairly shit understanding of how expensive life is for most people where I am. Detournement
I'm in the gym with the BBC on TV showing military parade in London. The sound is off but I'm guessing they aren't discussing that the UK has been heavily defeated in both wars we have fought this century. Britain has been Hapsburgized.

Hapsburgized in that Britain is Austria Hungary in 1914 with an aged monarch and everyone is waiting for the Empire to fall apart? Bad news for Charles considering what happened to the Hapsburg heir that year...

topcat(The most tip top)
I looked at salary percentiles not that long ago. It is absolutely wild how close to the top you get with what seems like fairly normal salaries. The average salary in Edinburgh puts you in the top 20% UK wide. That explains is why people are always moaning about the prices for away supporters at Tynecastle

BFTD
Tory voters all work bloody hard, unlike that lot over there, with their free Sky TV and plasma screens.

Always interesting to see what he's been up to lately. When I first heard he was out as a transphobe, I looked up his Twitter account to see what the craic was, and the latest tweet was a call to arms that non-trans men needed to start wearing dresses and publicly making a big deal of demanding access to women's public toilets. The first reply to it was support from Stuart Campbell. He'd also changed his bio to demand everyone call him some traditional women's name. That's as far as I got. Just absolute face-melting stuff, but it doesn't really belong here, as Normal Island now seems to feel as repulsed by him as he feels about people who aren't classified by their genitals.
