Second leg of the semi is probably the worst anti-climax of a match in my 50 years or so supporting the Dons. A real pea-souper of a haar that engulfed Pittodrie meant I could barely see the action on the pitch. And the generally gloomy feel about the whole affair killed what should’ve been a special atmosphere from the outset.....and absolutely stone dead when word filtered through to the Beach End that Porto had scored at the other end.

I’d like to present to you some circumstancial evidence to give food for thought to this argument: Item 1: Shaun Maloney throwing a punch, one can only assume that the observer have cut out The Incredible Hulk who is standing out of shot. Item 2: Look at the anger in his eyes, definitely about to rip his shirt off and wrestle a walrus here imo Item 3: I wouldn’t want to be Wigans number 14 or 33 here, I think they are about to be eaten for dinner. Item 4: A more recent picture of Shaun in his natural habitat, he is obviously pointing to the official to a place outside the venue, a neutral venue if you wish where he is going to show said official who really is boss. Item 5: The last for the moment, again conveniently the camera man has cut out the receiver of this outburst although I think that’s Roberto Mancini behind him. You can see her someone is about to be on the end of his wrath.

The rest of them look like my wife when i've left the seat up. Which to be fair is quite terrifying.

For some reason, my biggest if ailing memory is of Willie (but could have been someone else) tying his laces when Porto were on the attack. Also, I remember a strange, resigned feeling of that-is-that, after Porto scored, (and I remember Porto's goal as a breakaway tap-in). It felt like we could have played for a hundred years and not scored, we seemed listless and they were too well organised. Of course none of the above could be true, but it's always been how I've felt about that game. It was also the game when I first realised that the mighty-mighty dandies, might be on the wane! (I was still only 15 at the time). Yours aDONis

tarapoa
If only the b*****d UK govt were as good fuckers as us football fans, eh?Agree.Recall a few of us taking bags of clothes/stuff etc out to Dnipropetrovsk (what happened to the petrovsk bit?) in 2007 - very much initiated by Hibs fans from their visit a couple of years earlier.Great to see this is still going on, especially given the current circumstances.
