Book the new oldies, who are currently no longer the newies but haven't quite reached the oldies stage yet.
Jim McLean's Ghost
Geriatric Sunday. Elton, Cat Stevens, Debbie Harry must have a combined age of well over 200. Are people even coming to Glastonbury for the music or could they put literally anything on and still sell out?

Seen them live a few times and got tickets sorted for their Aberdeen gig next year. Cannot wait. Their Aberdeen gig was just brilliant.
doulikefish
Glen Matlock must be delighted he has a full time gig with Blondie and doesn't have to scrape around with generation ex

pozbaird
Had a conversation with Mrs P. If you rule out anyone who has headlined before, who could the 2024 headliners be? Taylor Swift? Harry Styles? Has Lady Gaga ever done it? Who is big enough, has the ‘headliner’ look that hasn’t already done it? My guess is that the organisers are praying big time for an Oasis reunion. Give it one more big album from them and my shout out is for the magnificent Wolf Alice.

pozbaird
Nah, there’s now three things on my ‘no chance’ list - going on a Titanic wreck dive, getting on any sort of ‘space tourisim’ rocket ship, and spending three or four days away from comfortable lavvies and my own bed.

If there was a nice comfy Hilton Garden Inn ten minutes away from Glastonbury, I’d be all in. Three nights in a tent with zero sleep and no toilet facilities? Absolutely none chance. I’ll watch it on telly, thanks.

She and Harry Stiles are nailed on headliners in the next year or two. It is what it is, but let’s not pretend it’s based on artistic integrity. It’s about money for old beardy and his daughter. All of that being said… just catching up on the iPlayer after watching the baseball, and Cat Stevens has still got it.

They disappeared with the 1970s. Thought nothing of it back then mind you. 95% of this Glastonbury line up isn’t my cuppa’, but with my lavvy a manageable ten second walk from the living room, via a detour to the fridge for another ice cold shandy, the wall-to-wall BBC coverage does me just fine.

pozbaird
One of the 2024 headliners will be Foo Fighters, won’t it? Billed as a triumphant post-Taylor Hawkins return to Worthy Farm. I say that as a Foo Fighters fan. That Lizzo lassie is definitely a headliner-in-waiting. She’s got the X Factor. Big tunes, big personality, big show and a big supporting cast of dancers and a good band, especially that lassie drummer. She’s feckin’ ace. Not my usual cup of Darjeeling, but she put on a great festival friendly show. I fair enjoyed it. Edited June 25, 2023 by pozbaird
