Well there is league 2 Peterhead just beat Hearts. Looks like they are getting relegated this year. emoji57.png

Hamilton got beat by Albion Rovers on pens, so they are obviously getting relegated this year......

Well, I mean they can technically both get relegated what with their shit managers, mediocre squads and two possible relegation spots. Good observation m8.

Link here to the highlights in case it has not already been posted. I have paused my video at full-time before the penalties. I am a merciless Gary Naysmith critic as I do not think he has earned the job and suspect his hubris of jeopardising our club's success. I do not trust his public comments as I think he is a good talker. On this one though I agree with his post match interview and I see a lot of positives in that performance.

Okay right back continues to be a problem area with whoever plays there getting sucked in towards the action in the centre of the field, meaning the attacking team can outflank us on the right. Hopefully this can be coached out. Midfield continues to look like a void, although there is some bite in Tapping (a crunching tackle v Hamilton, motivating the players after Stenny scored) which you would not expect to look at him and we know Jacobs can break up play. The goal we conceded is a shambles.

Onto the positives: there is good link up play between Dobbie and Dykes. They seem to have a connection growing. This may be because Dobbs is just so good he can connect with anyone. Still, there were at least two crosses which Lyndon was inches away from poking into the net. I think he lacks a killer instinct (i.e. when he was through on goal in the first half and delayed). Hopefully this is a confidence/early season issue and he can live up to the tattoos and show a bit of attitude. Murray seems to know his role well - running with the ball on the right wing, coming central and finding space when the ball is out left, tracking back to defend as required. Murray's defending was toothless throughout the video but he is not afraid to get stuck in (full credit for that, another skinny one like Tapping) so hopefully with a bit of accuracy to the tackles that will improve. Finally, the keeper - what an improvement on last season. From a keeper who can't save on his own side at a free-kick, to one who can get across to save shots coming over the wall.

In summary, RB needs coaching, Murray needs work on his defending, Lyndon needs more killer instinct, midfield needs more bite  - it sounds like a lot, but marginal improvements are required in all areas. There is a of course a lack of depth as well. It could come good... could.

Pointing out that it's not just Queens that slip up. Folk want to remember on here Queens don't have the budget of the likes of Hearts and so on, but we do aright considering. The fact we can hardly scrape together 2000 fans for a home game when there is no club bar Annan in a 50 mile radius. Half the folk that write on here don't even go to the games, but still slag the players off. If you want better players start putting money into the club, simple as that.

Think we can only get through if we win and Accies don't win in 90 mins. Haven't looked at all the fixtures and what would need to happen for us to go through if we finish second, but it looks extremely unlikely. Can't see Accies having as poor a result as tonight in a home game.

I think to get through:

we must beat Rovers
AND either
- Stenny hold Accies to a draw.
OR
4 of the following happen:
- Inverness dont better our margin in beating Brechin (or dont beat them).
- Dunfermline at least draw with Hearts and Peterhead dont win in 90 mins.
- Kilmarnock fail to beat Dumbarton in 90 mins & we win by at least two.
- Morton dont win by 5 more than us.
- Partick lose to Stranraer or lose on pens while we win by 5 goals.
- Dundee get no more than 2 pts from Cowdenbeath and Dundee Utd.
- Hibs lose to Alloa.

That`s great SD. I was just about to post "if only there was someone who could outline the possible permutations".

To be picky Hamilton not winning v Stenny i.e. a Stenny win would be every bit as good as a draw in that match. ;)

I hope a connections growing but I'm not sure a couple times on Saturday Dobbie played a different ball from Dykes run,Lyle and Dobbie clearly are better but hope that one these loanees is a first team Striker that is good enough to start.Agree with the killer instinct a good example of that was first half when he took it down with his Chest/Arm then dragged the shot wide.

Felt like Hamilton exploited us down Murray/Mercer wing in first half a few times,Don't know who's fault that was sometimes I think it was Murray sleeping and losing his man but Stirling and most wingers are guilty of it so can't put too much blame on him.

Terms of Martin I love him already and he hasn't even done anything amazing for me to,He's loud and so far a much better Goalkeeper although some his kicks were dodgy but let's not get into that again:lol:

Based on those highlights the much maligned Dykes was far from the worst QOS player on view. He looks short of confidence but I remain convinced there is a player in there.

Do we not get prize money for finishing 2 nd  ? If  so could really do with a win on Saturday.

No chance of going through as     2nd now.

Hamilton will beat Stenhousemuir at home to win the group so we will be out the Cup.

Any team who can't beat E.K. at home does not deserve to go through

£17,000 for finishing 5th, despite your constant rambling about losing out on £35,000.

Yeah possibly wasnt phrased very well. It was meant to illustrate the worst case that would do. Clearly Accies losing would do the same job.

Don't go by highlights, Dykes would be better in midfield or on the wing but he is definitely not a striker. Bar the route one sometimes Queens played well, especially Mercer who has been getting a lot of stick on here. Stirling was quiet in the second half but he was hooked probably for that reason, Murray was sometimes hanging back instead of making a ball up the line. Apart from sitting too deep at times and the silly mistake that gave away the goal, I'd say Queens were just as good if not better than Hamilton.

This is coming from someone who was at the game.

Thanks.

I do like these posts that save me the bother of looking and thinking. I would see the Hamilton / Stenhousemuir one as likelier than four of the other scenarios coming off together, but we'll see.

If Hamilton just beat Stenhousemuir on lottery kicks, is that still good enough for us if we win our game?

Yes. We'd finish above Accies on goal difference.

As Flash said, yes it would.

I agree Stenny nicking a draw seems more likely than 4 of the other 7 happening. I doubt Morton will win by 5 more than us and Inverness is a coin flip. I would be surprised if any of the other 5 happen though, never mind two of them.

Just to cover all bases. another scenario in group C to watch is that Cowdenbeath do not win both their remaining games against Dundee tonight and Raith Rovers on Saturday. A draw (and win on penalties) may also be enough for them depending on goal difference in the game they win and Dundee fail to beat Dundee Utd.

I'm aghast at the mentality of 'fans' who boo players that way. Inexcusable really. I wonder how they'd feel if I followed them around at their work telling them what a shite job they're doing. Great for morale, that.
