Everyone knew Nicola was the aire in waiting and had been mentored for years to take over from Salmond it just happened sooner than they hoped but she was the plan.

There clearly isn't a plan for who succeeds her, either (and most likely) nobody stood out from the crowd. Or she's just jumped ship for whatever reason and now they're scrambling like f**k to find someone.

Here was me thinking at lunch time "Fair enough, give Forbes a chance and see if she truly can set aside her dark-ages views and keep them out of politics", and she promptly goes and confirms that she's every bit the religious zealot I suspected, if not more so.

No fucking way can she be taken seriously as a leadership candidate for a progressive party. The 'whitaboot muslim Humza?' stuff is just laughable because his voting record is there as testament to the fact he absolutely can, and does, keep the dogma of his religion out of his politics, something that Forbes herself has just confirmed she would be completely incapable of doing.

'Ah but it's already law, and it's no getting rolled back!'. Well no, but what about the next time there's a significant political matter that involves one of the peccadilloes of being a member of a cult with dark-ages views? Say, buffer zones around abortion clinics for example?

With Forbes self immolation, I wonder if someone else will now get into it. Folk must have been ruling out or staying out on the basis that Forbes would be favourite and hoover up votes easily.

At the moment it's a case of - if Yousaf doesn't perform we get stuck with Ash Regan, at which point we'd all better start rehearsing Rule Britannia at Hampden.

That's a huge risk (albeit, Yousaf managed to tap the ball home in his response over Forbes' comments) so someone else needs go get into it. Ben McPherson? Gray ruled himself out but didn't do so as unequivocally as Robertson who would struggle to walk back his reason for not getting into it.

Maybe McAllan will change her mind and get into it as the female, pro guy marriage, pro GRR candidate. She doesn't have the seniority but Forbe's support will be up for grabs now.

As has Ian Blackford, from the same denomination as Kate Forbes.

Her answer on same sex marriage was interesting. She said she would have voted against it. However, she likened it to Angela Merkel who brought forward the vote on same sex marriage in Germany and voted with her conscience (against) but implemented the policy as it was the will of the parliament.

Can't vote for someone with these views. Think she has ruined her campaign on day 1.

Kate Forbes leadership bid in tatters because she was honest about her beliefs!

No, her bid is in tatters because of her beliefs - not her honesty. We should expect honesty (I know) as a matter of course. The question is more why she thought entering the race was a good idea in the first place given that it's as clear as the nose on her face that she'd be at odds with the will of parliament on specific social issues.

Petition to get this subject into the leadership debate alongside the GRR.

Why? All sides mostly have the same view that Israel has no choice but to murder at will and support the building of settlements because otherwise… eh hamas etc.
