invergowrie arab
Do Scotland not give people cap numbers? I thought it was pretty common
craigkillie
I don't think it has ever been done officially, but various people (including me) have put it together. Liam Kelly became 1230 and Zander Clark became 1231 in our last game, so we're pretty close to England in terms of our numbers.
Bully Wee Villa
They've definitely always had it for the cricket team but haven't heard it used in football before. Again, I quite like it.
Ray Patterson
Yeah big fan of it - would like to see us introduce it here. Suppose the SFA's issue is what counts as a Scotland cap - didn't they just retrospectively give a cap to eight players a few years ago - could make the numbering very confusing should they do that again.
Bully Wee Villa
They definitely retrospectively capped Clyde (and Celtic) legend Harry Hood and little-known former Dunfermline forward Alex Ferguson a few years back. Not sure about any others.
craigkillie
There were a handful of players from the same world tour who were given caps, Ferguson and Hood were two of them. https://www.scottishfa.co.uk/news/former-scotland-players-to-be-recognised-with-international-caps-including-sir-alex-ferguson/
BFTD
I just noticed that Austria didn't qualify for a European Championship until 2016. They hosted in 2008 without needing to. It used to be a more difficult tournament to get to than the World Cup, but still surprised me a little.
BucksburnDandy
Israel have had a weird few days catching up from last month. Beaten in Kosovo then sneaked a late equaliser to the Swiss tonight. Need 6 points from their final two games. Must beat Romania on Saturday in Hungary to stand a chance. However if they do, it opens up half a chance as they have Andorra on the final day while Romania play Switzerland.
AMMjag
I'd assumed Sweden were playing their under 17s tonight since they're already out, but no, they really are just rancid at the moment.

Ooooooft. Haven't seen them play since the last Euros, but that's the worst qualifying performance I can remember them having. 9 minutes ago, Richey Edwards said: Luxembourg beating Bosnia. Michael W
Portugal might actually be a decent team to watch when that greedy shit Ronaldo finally calls it a day.

Nobody to blame but themselves - they really should've taken more than a point off Slovakia. Looking like they'll need to get past two from Georgia, Greece, and Kazakhstan in League C at the moment, which...good luck to them. The two sides directly below them, Iceland and Bosnia, might be taking part in the League B play-offs, which seems bizarre, but that's the Nations League for you.
