Not convenient at all. No cut and paste, no modification or clipping off of facts and figures. Taken from Britain’s biggest sports and betting web sites.

Sorry to disappoint you in your search for “aye but”.

Did you really just post an irrelevant league table for the full season in a discussion about "form"? Last 6 is pretty standard fare in form guides, but you know this.

He was showing that the website he used showed the last 5 games, nothing to do with the table in the picture.

The form is at the R/H sand of the table SD, shows five games.

I've not really for a horse in this race but I tend to use 5 games, if for nothing else than on FlashScores (App I use for latest scores, I think it's one of the bigger ones)uses denominations of five.

I do love a PnB discussion on something this small though! Good stuff.

I don't bet so I tend not to use betting websites. Football365 no longer carries stats but used to use 6. I now tend to use one of:

https://www.whoscored.com/Regions/253/Tournaments/72/Scotland-Scottish-League-One which uses 6

https://www.soccerstats.com/latest.asp?league=scotland3 which can't make up its mind whether it's using 6 or 8 depending on which part you look at (although in the more detailed page you can set it for 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 games (not 5 though).

As @printer said, whilst it's not perfect depending on games in hand etc, using an even number does tend to iron out home / away differentials. I genuinely don't think I've seen a Form Guide use 5 before. I knew the BBC had a colour coded recent results part on the right but I don't go there to look at form and hadn't noticed it was only 5.

Fair enough, missed that entirely. When I want to look at Form I look at a Form Table, not a colour coded chart on the end of the actual league table that I'd have to get a pen and paper out to work out who was where in it.

The only bit that’s not right is QotS being the league’s form side. A quick look at Sporting Life’s Last Five form guide gives that accolade (rightly) to Airdrie……five straight wins versus QotS’ four wins and a draw.

I keep forgetting that due to the likely forensic dissection of every detail I need to be very precise about the wording used on P&B posts ... in this instance I was quoting another poster, but on reflection it would have been better to say "an in-form side" as that would have better captured the essence of my point (ie that no sane person would have considered calling QOS an in-form side a few months ago).

Imagine QoS even being discussed in regards to who the form side is. This division wants to have a fucking word with themselves.

That made me laugh.

It is true though, given how awful we have been for most of the season.

The fact that we are still in with a chance of the play-offs is remarkable.  I genuinely thought 8th was our destiny in December.

^^^ This was my very point (poorly made by me tbf) that sparked the whole "form tables" debate, which basically missed the laughable point. C'est la vie. 😏

I thought it was our ambition.

Ambition wasn’t a word I would have associated with the team/club up to the start of the year. So fair play to everyone involved for turning things around.

Regardless of what happens now, I am genuinely optimistic for next season.

New manager appears to be getting the best out of your squad which was being heavily criticised in December.  Good luck

That notion evaporated in the late summer sun.

Looking at the relevant thread, it was more often fans of other clubs who predicted lofty finishes for us, with a few even placing us top.

That never seemed very likely, given our company in the division.

Stark contract to the start of the season where a lot of you thought you would be in the top 2

I think general expectation was top 3 but playoffs as an absolute minimum. There's no doubt overall our season has been pretty awful. We have a top three budget and have sat 7th most of the season. Few of the summer signings worked out well to the extent as someone pointed out last week, the team that beat Alloa last week had just 2 starters from the summer signings (Hendrie and Wilson). Last 6 weeks has seen a bounce of optimism for next season and earned us a surprising outside shot at sneaking in the playoffs this season but we're still a long shot for that and relying on Alloa dropping points in at least 2 of their last 4 games.
