BAFCyellowandblack Posted August 14, 2023 Share Posted August 14, 2023 Bellshill athletic 5-4 Irvine Victoria A well attended first home game for Bellshill down the Rockburn and a game that had a bit of everything with Bellshill going in at half time with a 3-0 lead courtesy of three well taken counter-attack goals second half saw Irvine get two goals back through a well worked first and a bit of a defensive disaster for the second then another goal from Bellshill seen it 4-2 and what should have been game done but a miss placed back pass and a fine volley from a corner brought the score to 4-4 there was then a lengthy stoppage after two Irvine boys crashed heads thankfully both boys got up but was a bit surprised to see them both continue they game a long freekick thrown into the box and well kept alive seen Bellshill get the ball in the net to make it 5-4 then followed a couple of silly red cards from us to finish the game with 9 men but dug in to get the 3 points eventually 9 from 9 and onto Wednesday for a trip to Lanark ️️ 2 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

We got our money worth with a game that was end to end ,proverbial game of two halves. Thought we had the momentum going into the last ten mins, having drawn level but the stoppage for the head knocks allowed you to regroup and eventually got your winner. Two good teams having a real go over the 90 minutes. PS fair play to the home supporters for dealing with the nugget who was abusing the injured players. Second half, not as incisive but scored two near the end, one a penalty. Should have scored more in second half but for being a bit wasteful in front of goal. Considering we were a few regular bodies down, all in all a good result that boosts our goal difference. Had chances to win game by more, but combination of greedy play by a few ,some great stops from the West Park Keeper and agonisingly the woodwork keeping the score down.
