ICTChris
A large pub chain has said it will begin charging more for drinks during peak periods. Stonegate Group, which owns Slug and Lettuce and Yate's pubs, has made the move due to cost increases. During busy periods pints will cost 20p more than quieter times. The changes will be reflected by notices in the pubs. Previously the group increased prices by 50p during England matches at the World Cup. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-66785823 What do booze soaked P&Bers think of these proposals? Would P&Bers be happy to pay extra for a pint when it's heaving? Will P&Bers now start (continue in some cases) drinking at 6am to save 20p on their pint of Fosters?

Just order in a few pints in advance - if it's Fosters it's not like it will taste any worse than a fresh one.
coprolite
A former landlord of a now defunct Aberdeen Hostelry introduced dynamic pricing for the Celtic supporters bus that stopped there twice a year.
Arch Stanton
In Scotland I'm pretty sure variations to a premises normal prices have to be for a minimum of 72 hours.
Smurph
In Scotland you can only change prices every 72 hours, so they would have to settle on (for example) Friday, Saturday and Sunday for peak prices. If Scotland were playing on a Tuesday night, they'd have to extend this in some way.

I'm sure most boozers in Dundee do this already.
Sherrif John Bunnell
It turns out Stonegate own two of the worst pubs in Inverness. Hopefully they can invest their unhappy hour profits into a mop.

Sergeant Wilson
No-one actually drinks in a Slug and Lettuce pub anyway. I'd rather go to Wetherspoons, at least they know they're shiteholes. Edited September 12, 2023 by Sergeant Wilson

Aye, but everyone will be desperate to get the first round in as you won't be able to go to one of their toilets and come back to the same prices.

Nah im sure its general alcohol prices have to stay the same for 72hrs wether its a rise or a fall in price, Thats why a lot of nightclubs were stung between thurs-sunday, if they dropped the prices tuesday night to cover the thursday cheap nights, then battered prices up for friday and sat, it crippled their sunday trades This was many moons ago mind you

Again, though, like MUP i'm not convinced it made any difference to alcohol consumption.
