It's providing double the capacity for hospitality with 190 odd padded seats with another 600/700 seats for general use while allowing terracing below for standing and the added bonus of a roof.  I see they are putting in the glass panels for hospitality boxes just now which will make it look better.  Not in the same league as the QP one!  A better picture attached from a birds-eye view.

There's many reasons to dislike Ayr but that stand isn't one of them, I also quite like that and the more terracing in grounds the better.

Is this somewhat of a rivalry or is it just everyone hates Airdrie or both!?

Rivalry-ish. Bit of history and currently one of those "hotspot" games where there's always some kind of incident pre match. Like Airdrie-Thistle but nowhere near as good.

Both. Theres a bit of daft history between the two, although there is definitely far less needle on and off the park compared with 10 years or more ago.

Clydebank 2.0 may have got their act together finally, but its 3/3 for Ayr so far this season.

Mon Ayr, make Airdrie greet again.

Na loads of water under the bridge. We're good friends actually.

To show that there's no hard feelings, I made a wee thing to commemorate their cup win.

Delighted to report I'll miss this as I'm down at the Blackpool Cup with the wee man's team - although you never know, might find a friendly Sports Bar prepared to stick it on the far away telly.

Although saying that, I think I've seen us win 6 times in the last 12 months and 2 have been against Airdrie so maybe I'm somehow a good jinx.

Be very surprised if we take anything based on the form / injury list / fact that surely McCabe isn't mental enough to somehow not work out how easy it is to beat us.

Airdrie fans we met in their stadium bar at the last game were all pretty sound so that's maybe where they've gone wrong against us - playing too much good football and fans being too welcoming

Everyone dislikes Airdrie because McDonald built one of the most horrible team full of the worst c***s in Scottish football at the same time as Section B were still a thing despite hooliganism being pretty much ignored by most other supports. They also bought Clydebank and shut it down when they went bust rather than work through the leagues as a phoenix club. in recent times, there is the association with far right groups that the club doesn’t do a lot to distance its self from. The result is, the majority of the support is tarred with a broad brush, which is ironic when you think of the KKK cosplayers they had at a game.

With regards to Ayr and Airdrie, a lot of people were involved in the demise of Airdrie and Bill Barr was the focus, a lot of people also made money out the demise of Airdrie, Barr was one of the only ones who had to go to court to get it. He was the Ayr chairman at the time so there was an association.

On Airdries last ever game, there was a demonstration on the pitch which I think every fan of any club would support or sympathise with. A group of Airdrie fans tried to jump in to the home end and start a fight but shat it over one policeman and ran away. They broke the crossbar and the game was abandoned. When we were in the same league before, there were police horses outside the ground and police in riot gear in the car park, for a crowd of maybe 1200

The racism and Bill Barr comments rile some Airdrie fans so folk will always use it. Much the same as calling Rangers fans zombies seems to rile up some of their support.

It’s kind of died down now, although one Airdrie fan did grass Ayr to the Lord Lion because our badge didn’t meet heraldic law meaning a complete rebrand.

I still have the ticket for the replay of that game.

Not to mention that one of their fans took a kicking from one of our stewards after they tried to act the big man. Some laugh.

While what they did with Clydebank was reprehensible, it is worth remembering that there wasn't an option to "work through the leagues" at that point. The new Airdrie did first of all try to apply to the SFL to fill the vacancy left by the original club going bust, but Gretna were elected instead. Had they not bought Clydebank at that point, they could have set a club up in the Juniors, but there was no pyramid system in 2002 and wouldn't be for another 12 years.

I think it was even one of their stewards, I think they provided their own stewarding for some reason. The steward marched up to the guy and straight-arm punched him in the jaw.
