Baltimore Bridge

Why has ICTChris not started a thread?

Has Harry Clark taken up a new profession?

Has any P&B'er ever caused a massive bridge collapse?

Another press conference in a few minutes, might actually say what happened now, it looks straightforward. Only question I have is whether it's a recent thing that mega ships aren't escorted by tugs until they're past the bridge and in open water.

I got this feeling on the summer day when you were gone
I crashed my boat into the bridge, I watched, I let it burn
I threw your shit into a bag and pushed it down the stairs
I crashed my boat into the bridge

I don't care, I love it

This is genuinely my biggest fear. I worry every time I drive over a bridge it's going to fall down and I'll get stuck in my car and drown.

Yes. I'm weird.

Do you use the old road via Beauly to get to Inverness?

Buy a convertible and wear a parachute?

It's a relatively short stretch of steelwork that needs replacing, depending on how damaged what's left is, it might not take that long to fix. By that I mean maybe one year rather than the 5 it took to build.

Could they not install some sort of "ski ramp" on the ends of the flat section like they used to have on RN Aircraft carriers, then just wave the speed limits and provide rocket boosts to motorists?

At least get the traffic moving again.

The famous bus-jump from "Speed" (1994). The gap in the movie is a matte-painting. The driver was hanging rather than sitting, to reduce harm to his spine. The impact was hard enough

Flawless.

I was sittin' home alone one night in L.A.
Watchin' old Cronkite on the seven o'clock news.
It seems there was an earthquake that
Left nothin' but a Panama hat
And a pair of old Greek shoes.
Didn't seem like much was happenin'
So I turned it off and went to grab another beer.
Seems like every time you turn around
There's another hard-luck story that you're gonna hear
And there's really nothin' anyone can say
And I never did plan to go anyway
To Black Diamond Bay

Once had to stop on the old Forth Road bridge due to an accident on the other side. My side was full of traffic and the opposite side was empty apart from a breakdown truck. When the truck drove across the bridge, the whole structure wobbled about like a jelly! If it done that with just one vehicle moving on it god knows what sort of movement it had during normal traffic.
