Montrose v Queens

Recommended Posts

Petrie said post-game yesterday he'd be resting a few for this, so decent chance of a very eccentric Mo line up (getting flashbacks of Rossco and Paul Watson at CB at Alloa in a similar situation).

Nil-nil kickabout or narrow away win, probably.

One or two of the Queens youngsters to make an appearance you’d imagine next week & quite rightly so.

You do know that Marvin picks the team, aye? 😎

With absolutely nothing at stake for this game from a Mo  perspective and two very tough games in quick succession, this surely should be about giving players just enough game time to prepare for the playoffs. At least with the Championship wrapping things up on Friday night, we will know who we’re up against on Tuesday night prior to this Saturday’s game.

Decent gesture by Montrose ... recognises that it's a dead rubber of a game and both sides are unlikely to field their strongest elevens.

A decent gesture would be Queens giving Montrose £15 for every away fan that attends.  It's doubtful if Bartley knows his strongest eleven after 35 games such is the chopping and changing in personnel and formations he's made this season.

There’s a point; how many times did the same 11 start in a row this season?

Twice.*

Montrose 9/12 (4-1 W)

Edinburgh 16/12 (3-1 W)

Falkirk 16/3 (1-4 L)

Alloa 23/3 (2-0 W)

I know we've had our fair share of injuries but that's pretty appalling. Interesting we won both games when we kept the same lineup two weeks in a row. Sadly Bartley never thought to try it more often.

* In the league. Never checked the cup games tbh.

Maybe the same players featured in those games but did he play the same system and keep players in the same positions? He cant help tinkering. You need a good bit of continuity, especially in the defence, to give yourself at least a chance of success.

Every QOS fan to pay £6.66 and see if the fiery pit opens up on the centre circle at 4.50pm to swallow up Bartley's gang of duds?

Is there a danger that if we win this (a distinct possibility given that Montrose are secure in the fast approaching play-offs), then our closing form looks decent, thus bolstering Bartley's position?

We'd have taken 14 points from the last 21, or 10 from the last 12 if you prefer.

I'm a bit concerned that it can be spun as progress.

... is Bartley's position in any doubt?
