welshbairn
TV could do worse than Clach v Nairn, local derby, both sides playing entertaining fast paced attacking football, with the addition of Tokely potentially throttling the ref. Too far from the western central belt though, so won't happen.

It's humour. You should try it
GordonS
Venues of live broadcast games before the big boys join: 2023-24: Stirling, Musselburgh, Dunfermline 2022-23: Cumnock, Pollok, Ayr 2021-22: Berwick, Clydebank, Brechin 2020-21: Dundonald, Glasgow (Queens Park), Dundee 2019-20: Kelty, Bonnyrigg, Linlithgow I make it 5 of 15 games in West Central Scotland. Only having two games north of the Tay and none north of Brechin is a pretty poor show, but the purpose isn't to have geographical spread. I'm not sure how many games they didn't show were better than those they did.
Shannon
I thought as soon as Albion Rovers v Talbot came out that will be the BBC game as two names well known to Scottish football fans with what should be a close game with potential of higher division team losing out although upset would be a bit strong if Talbot were to win.

While it's highly unlikely, if the BBC were to insist on showing this game would the rules allow it be moved to Dens or Tannadice?

Aye, putting all politics aside, that is the game that grabs you by the throat....on reputation at least.

roy of the rovers
When are they going to announce the BBC pick for live TV? They were a lot quicker last year when we were chosen.

They didn't show Championship games last pair of Fridays in August on BBC Scotland (instead ran pipeband highlights + repeats about Fort William FC/Singer sewing machines/Jocky Wilson) plus have none announced for next Friday; televised no Challenge Cup R3 ties last weekend; and have announced Cove v Arbroath on BBC Alba live on Saturday 28th. The BBC only have 20 Championship games a season, so they’ll always miss weekends. In recent seasons, they’ve tended to backload to capture the run-in. The new deal announced a couple of months ago said the BBC would continue to show games in rounds 1, 2 and 3. It would be strange for that to change so soon (if they even could change it).
andy25 Posted Wednesday at 14:09 Share Posted Wednesday at 14:09 Dalkeith v Broxburn is the TV game.
Le Tout P'ti FC Posted Wednesday at 14:22 Share Posted Wednesday at 14:22 I’ve spent 25 years of my life in Dalkeith and nothing of note has ever happened, other than the time that pigeon broke into Aytoun’s and made off with a side of beef. Now that I’ve escaped, suddenly the TV trucks are coming to town. This is absolutely extraordinary news, and I’m delighted that the BBC are giving exposure to the smaller clubs. Mon the Jags!
Jordi1977 Posted Wednesday at 14:30 Share Posted Wednesday at 14:30 Super surprised at the choice of game... but delighted Broxburn get a chance to be on TV. Hopefully it's a good turnout for it too. Might have to get my mum to "tape" it and get myself a haircut to look better in any crowd shots!
newcastle broon Posted Wednesday at 15:44 Share Posted Wednesday at 15:44 (edited) How was this game even considered? 2 East teams 3 divisions apart ? I'm sure there could've been a North v South or East v West in the line up somewhere. Good luck to Dalkeith though, who would've thought just a few seasons ago this would've been impossible? Their small committee deserve all the media attention they will get. Edited Thursday at 07:20 by newcastle broon
Groundhopping Adventures Posted Wednesday at 15:47 Share Posted Wednesday at 15:47 Wonder if there was bother with other choices as it did take a while to pick a game?

I was wondering the same - with some of them there might have been difficulties if the away side had far to travel on a Friday. Brora v Cumnock would have been interesting, for instance. Albion Rovers v Auchinleck Talbot did look like the stand-out tie, maybe they wanted to avoid showing clubs they've shown before. Still an odd choice, though.
