Lex Posted Wednesday at 20:55 Share Posted Wednesday at 20:55 With the swashbuckling Georgian victory over Portugal sealing their progress to the last 16 and ending the group stages tonight, Scotland officially became the worst team at Euro 2024. If all 24 teams were put in a big league table Scotland would be 24th, with 1 point and a goal difference of -5. I think every nation at the tournament can take some positives from it, apart from us. Why did it go so badly wrong? Nobody seriously expected Scotland to have a real impact in Germany, but going out with such a pathetic whimper, despite having a pretty kind draw, is hard to take. Why are we being out performed by the likes of Georgia, Slovakia and Slovenia? What can we learn from these teams? I don’t think they have better players than we do, but their approach to the tournament has been the polar opposite of ours. These stats are from Sunday night so I can only assume we are 24th in shots taken now aswell. What a disgraceful showing, at both ends of the park.
allyo Posted Wednesday at 21:02 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:02 Don't know what you're complaining about. We scored over a goal more than expected.

Richey Edwards Posted Wednesday at 21:08 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:08 Genuinely I cannot think of any redeeming aspects of our participation in this tournament. We'd have been just as well not qualifying.
HibeeJibee Posted Wednesday at 21:15 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:15 Note too we ranked 22nd of 24 last time, ahead of only Turkey + FYR Macedonia.
ogoftheskye Posted Wednesday at 21:15 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:15 And some shitebag Scottish pundit will still come along to say our expectations were too high. Even Alan f*cking Shearer doesn't believe that.
Staggie_93 Posted Wednesday at 21:19 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:19 The team that came fourth in our qualifying group manage to have a far more successful Euro’s than us. Complete and utter shambles.
Barry Ferguson's Hat Posted Wednesday at 21:22 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:22 I'd say the stank we emitted was of such potency that Group A is now soiled beyond redemption. Really wouldn't surprise me if the next Euros starts with Group B.
Virtual Insanity Posted Wednesday at 21:25 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:25 Don't think the group was necessarily easy but no evidence that we'd have done anything less embarrassing in any of the other groups. Our record in big games (playoffs/finals) is shocking, 9 games under Clarke - 4 draws, 5 defeats.
invergowrie arab Posted Wednesday at 21:27 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:27 I was all for Clarke staying 3 days ago. We have been made to look a right c**t these last few days. I genuinely thought Ferguson might be a breakout star at this tournament and then I realised he would have got 10 minutes v Hungary

ogoftheskye Posted Wednesday at 21:35 Share Posted Wednesday at 21:35 As it turns out, even if we'd nicked a win against Hungary we would've scraped a last 16 as the worst of the wildcards and denied Slovenia a place, which would've been seriously rough on them, not to mention how Ukraine's group turned out.
