Yank Mike
Looking at tickets for Game 5 on Stubhub. $1350 are the cheapest standing room only. $13-28K for rinkside. Jesus!

tigerton
Well done Penguins. Better team won. Exactly this. I'd have loved a Sharks win, but they were lucky to not get swept in the series, Martin Jones to thank. Unusual to see the east coast side dominate a final so much. Delighted for Kessel, just shows what you can do when you escape the Toronto circus.
sergie's no1 fan
Aye can't complain, Martin Jones performed heroics to keep the series going. Disappointed the likes of Thornton and Pavelski just didn't show up, missed Hertl the last few games. Ah well, my first season watching Ice Hockey in years produced a Stanley Cup final for the Sharks, I expect this every year now!* *Wee joke, probably more chance of Saints winning the Scottish Cup next year.

Yank Mike
Lol wut After all the hate from the Toronto fans and press he proved capable of being a top guy on a Cup winning team. He was definitely in the top 3 for most important Pens for the run and there's a great argument that he was the best.
tigerton
Lol wut Your point? Toronto's media slate everything about that team. They're a bit like the English media with the English national team. Build them up but as soon as something goes wrong, destroy them. It's great to see Kessel do well elsewhere and give it a big GIRUY to them
grazza
Las Vegas are getting a team from 2017/18 season and will play in the Pacific Division. Should do alright with the tourism there can expect teams to bring decent sized away support for a weekend break and casinos will buy up tickets for corporate etc so maybe a few seats paid for but not sat on. Local population over 2 millions and this is first major sports league to have a team there so should have a good chance. Lot of locals moved there so may just go to support other teams when they visit. Quebec City's bid for a expansion franchise has been differed. By sounds of it NHL would like to have Quebec and happy with the owners and market. They say they the Canadian dollar has an effect which it no doubt does but there are 7 Canadian teams already. The main issue I think is geography and they would need to go in east and so an existing team move over to west but I think the team that moves would need to agree to it. Detroit spent years trying to move East can't see them wanting to move back. Think they want the expansion fee so it will probably happen but think a struggling east conference team e.g. Carolina could maybe go to Seattle to align the conferences.

Yank Mike
Quebec should get a team before Vegas. Sucks to see fans who would actually care about their team passed up for the mighty $$$$. I'm not sure about how much attendance you are going to get from the snowbirds supporting their old home town. That was part of the plan for Florida and Arizona, but it hasn't seemed to work out in either of those markets. There just aren't enough Chicago, NYC, Toronto, Pittsburgh, Philly, etc people in these cities to move the needle that much. The one thing that will help Vegas is that as a one sports town they will get all the demand for corporate tickets. We will see how much of these end up used. I could see tickets as part of a hotel package and then the folks heading to the strip club instead of a hockey game. Let's watch Colin Cowherd and the Draft Kings sponsored ESPN shock jocks complain about the negative influence of gambling on hockey. I don't listen to the Herd much anymore, but I would have assumed that he'd be in favor of pro sports in Vegas.
maplewell
Two completely laughable trades in the last half hour. Oilers traded Taylor Hall to the Devils for Adam Larsson, then Montreal topped that hilarity by trading PK Subban to Nashville for Shea Weber
tigerton
As an avid hater of the Montreal Canadiens, I absolutely love that trade. PK Subban comes across very likable off the ice, and nobody can question just how talented he is on the ice. Still haven't forgiven him for trying to break Mark Stones wrist in the playoffs last year though. Good day for a Sens fan as well, seeing Montreal lose their star D man and Toronto not signing Stamkos
Yank Mike
Quebec Taxpayers Spent Hundreds Of Millions On An NHL-Ready Arena And Didn't Get An NHL Teamhttp://deadspin.com/quebec-taxpayers-spent-hundreds-of-millions-on-an-nhl-r-1782674922 Is it likely that the Videotron Centre will suddenly turn a profit? Outside of games for the junior hockey Quebec Remparts, the next event listed for the building after that Oct. 4 NHL exhibition is a concert on Nov. 21. And then, um, a hypnotist on Jan. 4. That is not a lot of events.
Miguel Sanchez
I don't think the NHL needs a victim complex to eclipse Barcelona, Liverpool and Celtic tbh. The longer the French stay wound up about not having a team, the better. Anyway, does anyone have any experience with NHL Gamecenter, now called NHL.TV? I doubt I'll be able to watch many games live so I'm hoping to be able to watch them after the original broadcast, but the website seems to suggest they're only available two days after the game actually happens. Plus there's very little information about being able to watch playoff games. If I end up at the mercy of whatever games are on the Premier Sports channel then I'll be quite annoyed.

This will be my second season of using NHL.TV and I find it to be excellent. The only games which have restrictions placed on them are those shown by Premier Sports. All the others can be watched live or at any time after the game has finished. Your right about the playoffs though. None are shown live but I'm pretty sure they were available the day after. They've also got the vault which has hundreds of games on tap going as far back as the 60's

Seems to be better than other parts of the internet are suggesting, though I've still got reservations about the scores being shown on it before you watch the games and I've no idea how streaming it through my PS3 will be which is what I'm planning. I'm only really planning on watching games the day after anyway, so that was my main worry. If I had to wait to watch the archived games it wouldn't be much use. I suppose I could try one month first before the yearly one to see if it's worth using.

I used to watch it on the xbox but found the quality wasn't as good. Sure it was running at only 30fps. Now watch it on my phone and beam it to the tv using chromecast which is much better
