I find it absolutely bizarre that they lose their minds over someone having a smoke. Them wanking themselves silly over Charley Hull smoking a cigarette on a golf course for weeks on end was weird. Jimenez and his cigar was cool, someone smoking a Mayfair just doesn’t really do it for me.

I remember the internet losing the plot over Jenna Ortega being “caught” smoking outside some pub in London when filming something, folk acting like one fag will literally kill her. Then you’ve got the other side where they think it’s the coolest thing in the world when in the rest of the world it’s just a thing a large amount of the population do and is not at all noteworthy.
The Golden God
Was in a pub near Central on Friday, was 2 guys sitting at the bar with golf gear on (why does everyone wear it to go and watch), over heard them chatting to some very loud Americans who were also dressed like they were just about to do 18 holes. They had been at Troon, talking about who they seen etc, nothing unusual except it was only 4pm. Who the f**k spends 100s of quid on tickets to only see a few hours? Time it takes to get from the course to the station and then the train up etc means they would have left at half 2 at the latest, wtf is even the point in going.

Caledonian1
Whilst I want to see Bob zoom up the leaderboard today winning the Open is absolutely beyond him this year (and I happened to say "good luck tomorrow" to Paul Lawrie after play on the Saturday in 1999 - never expecting a win of course) It is a massive day for the other Scots in the field. Ewen Ferguson has given himself a great chance of one of the ten PGA cards with his win in Munich, today offers a chance to win a serious number of points to edge him above some of his rivals. Callum Scott is three ahead in his bid to win the Silver medal. This hasnt been awarded in the last two Opens as no amateur made the cut. This time four have but Scott is in prime position. Winning this would guarantee entry to next year at RoYal Portrush and the Masters - what a prize for an amateur. My own ambitions for today are to get back on track and score in the 70's........I have gone from 7.4 last Sunday to 9.1 today (played 9 rounds since as been off and played a four day open on top of medals) I will be playing a different course to the aforementioned.

peasy23
Lowry having a moan about the course set up yesterday, particularlythe closing stretch into the wind. Apparently the R&A should have been able to predict the weather better than the Met Office. Nobody had forecast the wind to be that strong.
pozbaird
Is it really that cold down there that everyone is wrapped up like it’s -2 or something? Supposed to be 13c at the moment. Any P&Bers freezing their nuts off at Troon… please report.
