That surprised me. I was expecting something more diplomatic, not for him to come out so unequivocally in support of genocidal imperialism.

Didn’t surprise me in the slightest.

Quote

Iranian state television claimed victory after the attack, saying many missiles had made it through Israel's defense systems and hit their targets, though there was little evidence to support that assertion.

The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.

So, those of us who have nightmares of waking up to news of an enormous door slamming in the depths of hell - anything to be worried about here?

It's been mentioned several times that the Knesset has members who'd like to be chucking nukes about in Gaza, never mind elsewhere.

After the missile and drone attack in April, Israel attacked air defence facliities within Iran.

Got to imagine Israel will strike Iranian nuclear and/or oil facilities in retaliation this time.  I guess a lot depends on the assessment of Iran's ability to escalate again.

More Israeli troops are moving into Lebanon, it's not clear at the moment what their goals are.   The IDF have warned about 25 villages in Southern Lebanon to evacuate, which would indicate that the operation is planned for these areas.  This is the map on the BBC.

A graphic showing the locations of the areas affected, primarily clustered south of the Litani River

Hezbollah have said they repelled an Israeli attack on Odaisseh, which is a village right on the border.  It's been the site of fighting before, you'd have to assume that it's been heavily fortified by Hezbollah.

Did folks want Iranian missiles to hit Israel and kill innocent people?

That's wild.

I don't think even Iran, who fired the missiles, wanted that. Were Iran to kill a load of Israeli civilians, the chance of war being pronounced against them by Israel and therefore USA would not be remote. Iran don't want that so the missile assaults are highly calculated to minimise the chances of harming Israeli civilians.

Not so for Palestinian civilians. Iran know that the protections provided for Israeli civilians are not in place for Palestinian civilians yet still fire the missiles anyway because Palestinians do not matter to anyone. They are too poor.

Back in April, a Negev Bedouin (Palestinian) child was critically injured when an intercepted Iranian missile fell on her house.

Last night, a Palestinian man in West Bank was killed when an intercepted Iranian missile fell on him: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/10/01/world/middleeast/gaza-palestinian-dead-iran-attack.html

Listened intermittently to the R4 Today programme this morning, and it was frightening to hear the predominant voices change from advocating de-escalation and ceasefire to being gung-ho for a full on attack on Iran along with finishing off Hezbollah. The neocons must have just been hibernating since their Iraq catastrophe.
