  1. Don’t you dare piss on my European chips. Wales, Norn Iron, Uzbekistan, Malta…. Don’t care. If we make it, not only is my passport being dusted down, I fully expect next season’s St Mirren shirt to have three stars embroidered above our crest. One for each Top 6 finish, and one for our trip to Total Network Airbus New Saints Solutions FC, in the 12th pre-qualifying round of the UEFA Intertoto Conference Diddyship Cup. Don’t spoil things.
  2. Close to a sellout no doubt. Beats a trouser troubling relegation shitfest, that’s for sure. 5-0. Gogic 10, 24, 47, 68, 90+5 pen.
  3. I’m no VAR fan, but I’m not going to say it, on it’s own, cost us a league place. Collapsing at Killie, and Killie being able to get something from the uglies is just as relevant.
  4. VAR and disappearing up our own arse at Rugby Park. Fifth would be great, but this weekend’s results undoubtably spice up our meeting with Kilmarnock at the SMiSA. If Killie do finish fourth to our fifth, they fully deserve it, but for now, the fight is back on.
  5. Distasteful as it is to say it, following our win in Dundee, not the worst thing in the world to see Killie lose, take a GD hit, and have ten men doing an awfy’ lot of running around before facing us. Prior to the three points at Dens, I thought the race for fourth was a step too far, but now? You never know. Looking forward to Saturday now, big game against an opponent who are followed by a decent bunch of supporters. Bring it on.
  6. The secretary of the Nyon Swiss Saints Travel Club on hearing the result from Dens…
  7. Did the child have a cardboard sign saying ‘Hemming can I have your shirt?’ Until I know the answer to this question, then I’ll hang fire on commenting on the white-haired gentleman’s actions.
  8. ‘Hello, uh-huh, yeah, yeah, that’s great, yeah, oh that’s brilliant, it’s a good school, the teachers are meant to be great there, uh-huh, OK, look, better go, kick off is in a couple of hours. What? Nah, it’s raining, stuck in the hotel, wouldn’t come back, no, definitely not happy we drew this Cypriot mob. Anyway, see you soon. Love you!’
  9. Swim School at St Luke’s on May 1st were sensational. Young kids from Edinburgh, they’re going places. Alice Johnson, who fronts the band is a star in the making. Was a special night, they’re the real deal.
  10. Checks his ‘thread bingo’ post from page one… chalks off ‘Celtic Shop’, puts kettle on and opens up a fresh packet of chocolate Hob Nobs.
  11. Barclays clubs looking at a salary cap? Gie’s a shout when they vote for a league-wide kit deal with Nike, initiate a draft, and take three games a season to America.
  12. At last. It took longer than expected, but now the thread is spiraling down the toilet faster than Scotland’s First Minister the last St Mirren v Dundee thread. Result!
  13. Played my first round singles tie in the Kirky Seniors matchplay a week or so ago. Was quite eventful. We finished all square after an eventful 18, and had agreed in advance that any tie would be replayed. We go out again a few days later. I’m one down coming off the 16th, the last two holes are both Par 4s. He tees off on 17, massively off the heel. His drive shoots wildly left, smacks straight off a tree and bounces straight back into the middle of the fairway, but only fifty yards off the tee. I hit a good drive down the left side. He duffs his second, but tops it and it goes straight on for about 100 yards. I stick a 6 iron to about 25 feet, leaving an uphill big-breaking left to right putt. His third is short, rolls back down the hill leaving him about thirty-five feet away, off the green still. He putts it, and it rattles the pin and drops in like a stone. In for a highly unlikely 4. I manage to get down in two for the half (inwardly scunnered, but outwardly saying ‘great putt from there, some 4 that) I’m still one down, and we both hit good drives down 18. He slices his second off to the right of the green. Has left himself no shot. A big bunker between him and the pin, and a green sloping away from him. I hit the best 7 iron I could have hit, stick it three feet past the pin, leaving a tricky three footer though. Fast and downhill. He takes a deep breath, opens the face of a sand iron, and plays a great floater over the bunker, but zero chance of it stopping. It flies down the slope and off the other side of the green. He’s now got another thirty footer or so, again from off the green. Once more, he gets the putter out, it rattles the pin, and drops in like a stone - again. Now my tricky three footer is to keep the tie alive. Inwardly I’m now thinking ‘the actual fcuk sake’… I can it right in the middle, nerves of steel, all square again. We head back down the first in sudden death. I win it on the fourth sudden death hole, in darkness nearly, as he misses a two-footer for a half in four. Inwardly I’m now thinking ‘Fcuking yassssss!’. Nerves shot to bits - in the Kirky Seniors?
