  1. Can anyone recommend a decent pump for getting slicks up to proper pressure? No matter how hard I try with my normal pump I can't get the pressure above 90-100psi and the tyre still feels a bit soft. Nothing too expensive or high tech though. Also a decent front light for illuminating the road in front of me as opposed to allowing me to be seen. Sick fed up of having to swerve at last minute to avoid potholes etc on badly lit roads and paths. Any advice/recommendations would be gratefully received
  2. Have signed up for the 50 mile Pedal For Scotland this year. Once this bloody lingering chest infection disappears I'll need to get some serious miles in
  3. I phoned the insurance company today and because the recovered bike has a dent on it, they don't want it back. I now have 2 Boardman's and nowhere to keep them and I'm not that serious a cyclist to require a whole bike for spares. I've got one in a bike locker at work for the moment, but that wont do long-term (and I'm a bit short of cash at the moment too) so I am going to have to punt it, so if you know of anyone who needs a bike.....
  4. Some of you may remember a few months ago that I had my Boardman Hybrid Comp stolen from the stairwell. Thankfully, it was covered by insurance and I managed to get a replacement. Imagine my complete and utter surprise when last week I got a phone call from the polis saying that they had recovered it from a property in Edinburgh whilst searching there for something else!!! They even delivered it to my work. It does have a dent in the frame but from what I can tell seems to otherwise be in good nick. I really was expecing never to see it again and the police have been brilliant in all honesty. Does anyone want to buy a bike?!?!?!
  5. I got a cheeky wee 5 mile run in last night after work. Very enjoyable.
  6. Having just done the certificate for work, it only covers accidents/emergencies at work. What you choose to do outside work in terms of first aid is separate from the requirements of the work course
  7. I have just completed the Red Cross First Aider at Work course. I pity the fool that get's ill or has an accident in my workplace.
  8. Went out on the Saturday afternoon for the first time this year and managed just over 11 miles. Probably could have done a bit more but glad i didn't as I was into a headwind all the way back. Good to get out again though. Also managed to hit a dog on Porty prom. A bit of indecision on both our parts and end up doing nothing then colliding. Thankfully (for the dog) I had pretty much stopped when contact was made and it wasn't hurt. I stopped and checked with the owner and made sure everything was okay. Good to know the brakes work!!
  9. No, but if he chose to play tennis Professor Finlay would be far superior to Federer
  10. I wish I was him, we should all aspire to be him
  11. Professor Richard j Finlay, the greatest living teacher of modern Scottish history. A legend. A king amongst men, nay a god amongst men
  12. With flexibility like that you'd be guaranteed a cracking ride.
  13. In off the motherfucking red!!! A magnificent evening's entertainment
  14. Don't worry everybody, after about 14 hours of being a human faeces fountain, I haven't shat for a couple of hours and had a shower and something to eat and feel a lot better. A decent night's sleep should hopefully see me much better tomorrow. Thanks for the concern UTN, it was touch and go for a while but with God's help I'll beat this terrible affliction
