Not the greatest defender in the world - dodgy positioning at times and a tendency to dive in - but a good left-sided midfielder who will bring energy and a sweet left foot to the team. Also plays with his heart on his sleeve. Very popular among the Alloa support, not least for the latter reason.

Squad looks pretty strong now. We could do with one or two creative players to take that burden off Flannigan and Cook, but overall it's very solid. We've been crying out for a Fleming type for a while now, and with the support of Renton and Malcolm we will give most defences a tough time. Clearly we aren't going to play the football we did under Jack Ross (and occasionally under Jim G last year), but I think we will be pretty effective and exciting.

Anyone who thinks Ryan is a poor footballer should be sectioned for their own safety.

Really hope Darren does well at East Fife. He was a brilliant captain for us, a real leader on the pitch and, by all accounts, in the dressing room. I got ro know him a bit through his work with the community club at Alloa. He's not the most touchy feely guy, but he is a winner and knows the game.

Happy with those signings. I don't remember thinking Malcolm was slow. From the squad so far we could put a good starting eleven out. Quality of the next couple of strikers we sign will be key.

Who would you get excited about?

Meggatt coming back is a top signing. You know what you get with him, solid performances every week and an additional centre half for corners etc. With Flanny also signing we are getting close to a strong starting eleven. Obviously the quality of strikers we bring in is vital, but we now have a strong base to the team.

Brilliant win for Dumoulin, bringing a truly outstanding Giro to a dramatic ending.
