  1. It was the sentence construction that did fir you here. He said "people of all religions and none" and the people belonging to both groups have sent their weans (bairns) to schools for similar reasons. Hth. But aye, back on track etc.
  2. Reminds me of the scene in Ice Cold In Alex when John Mills downs the pint of lager he's been talking about for the whole film. It took 14 takes and he was absolutely plastered on that scene.
  3. The dangerous in the air thing is pleasantly surprising for such a short guy. Is that something that's just emerged since his move, or was he scoring headers at Farense too? Aye he was. It's something he's added to his game over the years.
  4. I reckon we'll sit off them again, offer no pressing, make them look like 2012 Barcelona and lose 2-0. I'm normally an optimistic fella, but hearing how intense the team are in training followed by an insipid, disjointed display is becoming the norm. Clarke rivals Levein in negativity. He's just not as up front about it. Delighted to be proven wrong obviously, but he seems wedded to a system that isn't getting the most out of this team.
  5. Pro cyclist. Getting paid to train and then race in some famous races would be an absolute dream. I'm not built for TdF contention, so competing for one day classics would be my bread and butter. Fuckin love riding my bike. Theatre actor. I reckon performing something that moves people would be class. My pal operates a crane on Rosyth docks that is, I think, the largest crane in Europe. That's a cool job.
  6. Aye I was thinking more or less the same. He's streets ahead of his teammates. Either he moves at the end of the season or Vancouver recruit better players around him. Gauld is creative and takes up good positions. His corner kicks are dangerous and he's excellent in the air. There isn't anyone in the squad who offers what he does. He simply has to be in the next squad.
  7. Morgan Freeman and Jet Li. I worked at Greaves in Gordon St for 6 months back in 2002. They two were filming in Maryhill and Garnethill for a movie. They came into the shop for some stuff. I had quit the day before so only found this out second hand from a former colleague. Also I went to Morgan Freeman's jazz club in Clarkesdale, Mississippi. He wasn't there. Destined never to meet.
  8. It's probably been said before, but the convoluted and pretentious portmanteaux dog breeds are getting a bit out of hand. Spotted a lovely big pooch today and on enquiring what it was the owner told me. Golden Doodle. A cross of Golden retriever and poodle. Not a golden poodle, nope. So not even a proper portmanteau. Golden. Doodle. Hanging's too good etc.
  9. Daniel O'Donnell came to the care home I was working at to visit the old folk. He was gigging in Glasgow that night and he didn't have to come all the way out to EK to spend an hour chatting and singing with (mostly) demented old biddies. No entourage, and no press. He's just simply one of the kindest and genuinely warm hearted men I've met. All of us staff were in tears at the impact he was having. An absolute class act. Others in the "guid cvnt" category include Katrina of Katrina and the Waves fame. My brother is a lifelong fan(and Eurovision obsessive.....he's autistic so it's a focussed passion) and we went to see her at a (pretty rubbish tbf) Eurovision concert in Blackpool. Asked to meet her afterwards and she couldn't have been nicer or more genuinely warm with him. My bro can be super intense and she just met it with unbridled joy and enthusiasm. Gorgeous person. Bertie Auld is one of the most charismatic people I've ever met, John Lambie was a lovely, lovely man too. I used to play 5's with Justin Currie of Del Amitri. Cracking lad. Barry Lavety too. He'd put on a fuckton of weight that was sad to see.
  10. I couldn't do the above and yes, the impact of soiling would be a factor.... TV show presenter or worse, quiz show host for some moronic bilge like pointless.
  11. Ronaldo's attitude toward ls international football is incredible. At an age where players are aiming to prolong their club careers at the expense of their international careers he still shows up, still gives his all and it still obviously means the absolute world to him. Marvellous player.
  12. It took me a while to realise that Bournemouth are a championship club. I'm not sure why that would be a good move for him, other than maybe financially.
  13. Looking at the highlights suggests he's going to be the absolute star of that team this season. He'll move on to a bigger team after this season too. This surely has to be the last squad that Gauld misses out on.
  14. This is beginning to sound like DAFC's endless victim narrative about his work. You're with her because you want to be and on some level you reckon you completely deserve this. Do what you want mate.
  15. Nightmarish behaviour. Even when I'm getting a train or bus from Aberdeen I'm in the city centre a good 45 mins before departure. Planes it's at least a couple of hours. Time to relax, read and stare into space. Perfect. My own pttgomn is simply when people call initialisms acronyms. It's truly petty.
  16. Ftfy amigo. @Miguel Sanchez how many points would I get if I put red23 in the Deadpool?
  17. I'm treating this as largely a free hit. Looking forward to seeing the boy Damsgaard again. Smashing prospect. Their whole team give me the fear actually. Braithwaite is superb too. Back to us. I hope we treat this like the England game and get right into them
  18. +1 for the OFF slagging. I used to love him, in fact I remember being in absolute stitches at an article he wrote after a general election. He has since focussed more on his sanctimonious arseholery. His articles can be described as "obviously wrong thing is obviously wrong. Here's my piece showing in detail why the people on twitter/youtube comments who don't think that the obviously wrong thing is wrong are deserving of public shaming". It's self-aggrandising, finger-wagging shite. The podcast stasrted off brilliantly with McQueer and Torrance on it. Superb chat. I actually like the fact that he has women on regularly too. It quickly descended into some highly moralistic circle-wanking. Shame, as it had potential to be a bit different instead of pretty divisive. Obviously sexism is bad, but it would be nice (and ironically pro-feminist) to just have women on to chat about football. For decent football banter I quite enjoy the fitbatweets cartoons.
  19. When I was there last week I had similar thoughts, that it seemed to be a small place. However I googled the population and it has almost half a million residents. I get that this is still smaller than Glasgow, but it is still quite sizeable. Getting the bus down and back really gave me a feel for it being bigger than it first appeared. My bluenose pal who lives there took some delight in telling me that in Queen Square there's a statue of King Billy and a pub bearing his name that has an orange sign (as a tribute to the Dutch, no doubt ).
  20. Out Of My League Supposed charming Italian romcom about a lassie with a supposedly terminal illness who is hell-bent on finding love before she croaks. It's the familiar trope of "ugly dates beautiful" while she obviously isn't ugly, although the script tells us that she is, creating a disconnect. What she is however is manipulative and narcissistic. The way that she gets the guy (a beautiful and ultimately good hearted guy who is unhappy in his supposedly perfect life. The only interesting character in the whole thing) is dreadful. Basically stalks him, stealing the phone of a man who fancies her (a "loser" who is painted with broad strokes and about whom we find out nothing) and using it to look at photos of her quarry, before dropping the phone in the toilet and flushing it away. So aye, it's hard to support her after that. The man she stalks confronts her and agrees to go out with her. There is chemistry between the two characters, but it's platonic. I could go on but ultimately my problem with this movie was the main character and the fact that she's ill supposedly excuses all her shitty behaviour. We even get the guy apologising to her after the first date, despite her reaction to it (being invited to a family dinner) being wildly over the top and egocentric. The cinematography and music try and get you to think you're watching Amelie, but imagine Amelie as a selfish, entitled nasty arsehole who performs no acts of friendship or kindness for others. Aye, I got irked at this film.
  21. I'm a big Merchant City fan, so Maggie May's for a burger is cracking. El Sabor if you want something fancier (tapas). If you're a herbivore, the 78 on kelvinhaugh street (west end) is one of my favourite places to eat. I'm not vegan, but the food there is great.
  22. Aye this is a tremendous museum. The Clifton suspension bridge is really something to behold too. The gorge the bridge straddles is home to, I think, 7 pairs of peregrine falcons too. There's some cool sights to see around Bristol too, if you have time. Cheddar Gorge is lovely and Wells has a spectacular cathedral. Bath is only 14miles away and is an absolutely stunning city. Enjoy your holiday amigo
