  1. Celtic have knocked back a loan bid for James McCarthy from a Greek team because they weren’t offerng  a high enough % of his wage. Be I guess that ends that rumour for us.

Stevie May, much like Dowds in playing style. Decent return in the lower leagues, could be a Kevin Kyle/Craig Beattie type signing or actually be a good move. Hard to say.

Slightly harsh on United.  They have 15 games left to play and are only 18 points off Dundee’s tally for last season.  They’ve only conceded two goals away from home all season and are still unbeaten on the road going into Feb.  They’ve had five clean sheets in their last six games and 18 in total for the season.  They’ve only conceded more than one goal in a league game once.

Dundee finished last season with a GD of +26.  United are already on +33 in just over half the number of games and have hit three goals or more on 9 occasions.  At the same stage last season Dundee had scored three goals or more only three times.

United are on course for 77 points at their current rate of 2.14 per game.  Dundee finished first with 63 pts last year.  That would be by far the highest winning points tally since Rangers in 2016, and only four off that so who’s to say they can’t surpass that?

There’s not a single stat that says United are the same kind of unspectacular champions that Dundee were last season.

If your way of proving that Dundee United are spectacular is with this post…..I got bored in the first paragraph.

If your season is defined by, we’ve not conceded many goals, it is the very definition of unspectacular.

Dundee United have the biggest budget in the league and arguably the best squad and are top by one point after 21 games. They show no signs of chucking it away.

I would call the campaign so far competent, routine, professional. I wouldn’t call it spectacular.

  3. In the January window, you will only get loan signings and players that have negotiated an exit from their teams.
Seen as we have been rotten for 6 months, I don’t see anyone walking away from 18 months left on a deal to sign for a team that was getting relegated two weeks ago.
If we can get one permanent and one/two loans next month I think we will be doing well.

Depends if we are playing 3 at the back with two wing back as he did at Fleetwood, Paddy could do a job and might actually be very well suited to that role but McAllister could never be a wing back.

Dempsey was dropping back on Saturday in a Jamie Adams/Stevie Bell kind of way when the full backs went forward. It worked in the first half but they just went after McCallister in the second.

Depends if Sanders has been signed to play there. If so then we probably need someone who can cover/oust Reading on the other side. Feel like we need to replace Young with an out and out ball winner as well and then get another attacking midfielder in.

He’s a centre back who can play at right back which doesn’t fill me with joy. We have McGinty who can play left back and Musonda who can play right back. We need a new right back and it would make sense to bring one in now if we can.

Encouraging that he's talking about permanent signings not just loans, already forwarded planning for next season's championship winners. 😆

I’d hope we would offer Chalmers something now as well. Dowds is kind of losing his appeal week by week but is still a good option.

It was difficult to tell, he booked about half the Queens team for having the temerity to suggest the Ayr player had dived.

Im not even sure it was a dive, he lost the ball and ran in to the back of a player and fell to his knees.
I don’t think he was looking for a free kick. It was a prime example of a referee that hasn’t played the game or watched it all that much other than being a referee. It was never a free kick.

  7. First half, Ayr had the bulk of possession and played some neat stuff but created almost nothing. The free kick for the goal kick was never a free kick, McKenzie ran in to a crowd of players, lost the ball and fell to his knees.
Second half, Queen’s Park came more in to it as the game went on, they kept the ball off Ayr and upped the tempo when we did have it. They scored almost against the run of play but dominated the game after that for the most part.
Ayrs second goal was a good team goal, must have been about 30 passed in the build up.
Ayr were hanging on a wee bit in the end.
Queens Park look a lot more organised team than the last couple of times we have played but just look a bit flat up front.

  8. Going with the same lineup was obvious given last weeks result and him having 2 days with the team.

Subs were a mixed bag, Fraser for Jamie Murphy was odd. McGeady getting a game over Amartey will maybe not his favoured sub going forward after today.

McCallister played the part of a roundabout well, the last 20 minutes was played down his side and I don’t think he got anywhere near the ball.

We still resorted to the Bullen style of a goal being scored and we shit ourself and start trying to defend our 18 yard box.

A good win though, hard to see any Scott Brown stamp on the team obviously with him only coming in this week. Good because Queens Park are a lot better than they were and it puts a bit of a gap in place. Good also with a win next week unlikely, it gets Brown off to a winning start and hopefully keeps the confidence growing.

  9. Ayr are off the back of two wins, defeating a lower league team in the cup and an Arbroath 11.
Davie Whytes method of bore the opposition players and support for an hour and then pounce worked wonders.
Brown still has a load of work to do but the last 3 games have brought 3 clean sheets in a row and an increase in confidence that was sorely missing.

Queens Park 2 Ayr United 0

  10. He just try’s to insert himself in to everything, that’s my problem with him.
Trying to be centre stage, a new manager gets announced and he’s trying to get retweets on a song he wrote about him to get some traction.
The Boaby Beer, the Boaby pie, the fucking Boaby bins. When he was told to pull it back he went off in the huff.

He really needs some self awareness.
