First half, Ayr controlled the first half hour without having a shot on target, played some decent stuff on the deck and the wind didn't really have any effect on the game. Arbroath got in behind us a couple of times but didn't really threaten.
At half time, the wind picked up significantly and swing round towards the Somerset road end, the subs were passing to each other and the ball was turning at right angles.
Second half, Ayr had more of the ball but the final ball was terrible, not really caused by the wind, there was maybe 6 crosses in to the box, right behind the players in the middle. The penalty was for hand ball, the Arbroath player almost caught the ball when he fell. Murphy skelped the bar, it hit the keeper on the deck and spun wide. Once Ayr scored, Arbroath kind of gave up, they had been trying to kill the game for much of it to try and play for a draw and it could have worked. Ayr were pretty flat up front, a lot of good link up play but the final ball was always poor.
For all the injuries, Arbroath were well organised to contain us but created almost nothing all game. If they get players back soon, They will be back in the fight.

I think Browns agent is just punting that he’s been interviewed to peak interest.

They waiting for a packed SRE to announce the manager you reckon? They may be waiting a while for that. The rain in Glasgow is torrential and the wind is getting worse
The tannoy breaking in and out due to the weather.

Scott Brown walks like a ski jumper on to the park, lifts a scarf above his head which acts like a sail, knocking him off his feet.

Please call it off because whatever the result QP will drop to 9th. I'd like us to stay at a heady 8th for a few more days.
Having played Arbroath last week, it may be possible for both teams to lose this fixture

Is it actually Ayr’s decision to make at this stage? Not sure that it is but no doubt someone will advise accordingly.
The pitch is playable and someone mentioned it’s actually not that windy at Somerset currently. So it’s up to the referee and the authorities to call it off based on public safety or unfit conditions.
However, the clubs statement implicates them in all sorts.

Maybe they are too busy with interviews to look out the fucking window

All aboard the Brown bus, Brown ball….its not got a ring to it really

The “we are keen” just put them in a hole. It looks like they are trying to influence the decision. There are plenty of people who want to pay in to the fixture that aren’t “keen” for it to go ahead in this weather.

Wouldn't even need a ref! Anyone with a brain cell I mean the met office and ScotRail issued warnings on Sunday/yesterday about tonight being stinking weather
It might of Arbroath haven’t arrived. It certainly used to be the case that if there was a concern raised, a local ref would go early and make the call on behalf of the match official.
I guess if Ayr had an injury crisis, they could phone up Arbroath and say, weather is stinking, can we just postpone if it wasn’t down to a referee.
Maybe there is one scheduled at 12 or 1 to do an inspection before Arbroath are due to leave.0 -

I remember that. The whole touchline was a puddle and the winger was straight in
There was a bow wave as he skidded through it. It must have been 6 inches deep

A local ref could drive to Somerset right now and know it would be off without getting out his car.

We played Meadowbank at Somerset once where the rain was so heavy you could barely see the 18 yard line through it from The Somerset road end(the physical space, not the Facebook group) Ayr won 7-0. The Meadowbank keeper had an absolute nightmare. As did one of the wingers who got barged into a huge puddle in the red ash next to the north terrace.

You would think the SFA would want to make a decision before Arbroath leave around 3pm ,
They could have made it 2 days ago. Forecasts might change obviously and there could be a lull during the hours of the game in Ayr but it’s not safe for travel right across Scotland. There is no sign of a lull forecast, if anything it is due to get worse 6-11.

I don’t think anyone is expecting to attend tonight at all, I don’t think anyone would attend even if it was on.
My bin is due out tonight and I’m already thinking if I could leave it till next month so I don’t have to move it out to the pavement in this weather never mind standing for two hours watching players who normally struggle to control a football on a calm day.1 -
The wind has died down and we just have monsoon conditions.
The wind is forecast to pick up again at 6pm which is worrying. It leads to the scenario of a ref standing in the centre circle at 7:15 throwing a ball in the air and it landing in Tescos car park. Only then to decide the game should maybe not go ahead.

Absolutely brilliant I will give it until this time next season if Brown gets the job and your fans will want him gone.

Stephen McGowan I would say is up there with Scott Burns in terms of usually being reliable
If Mathie is saying there are still interviews less than an hour ago, they have either made him an offer and are waiting for pen to paper...or...Browns agent has leaked his name to try and get a bit of traction.

Any relationship Lennon has with his respective boards usually becomes toxic after about 6 months.
I’d hope the club would do due diligence but I’m not arsed about hiring him either way.

My fear is that it's Neil Lennon
He’s been on a downward spiral for a while but is hugely Experienced, there aren’t many managers who have beaten that Barcelona team that would drop in to Ayrs market.
Him dropping in to Ayrs market might mean he is yesterdays man and should stick to punditry or like McCall, he has a point to prove that he still has something to offer after a while out the game.

I know that, however I’d say that was a considerable price drop from 3/1 to 4/6 as soon as it opened? Probably looking too much into it but I reckon Brown is one of the final two.
certainly on here, there seems to be an acceptance that it is Brown, based on absolutely no evidence at all which has maybe led to some betting.

People on the SRE Facebook have no clue…Saying Scott Brown was a disaster at Fleetwood
wasn’t he hailed among the Fanbase? (For the most part)
I think you could say his fortunes there were mixed. He deserves a chance in Scotland certainly.
If it was him, I’d expect there would be a clause that both parties could walk away if we were relegated. Half a season is long enough to make a mark on a team even if it’s not your players.

Brown is an interesting appointment, hopefully his name and reputation will get the most out of the players over the next few weeks and he can put his stamp on the team. A win on Saturday and even the biggest Bullen fans will have forgotten about him.
It is important for some of the support to realise that we have signed Scott Brown the rookie manager and not Scott Brown the Celtic player. The brief chorus of you'll never walk alone was tragic and rightly boo'd He needs to impress the support and the support need to back him, not tickle his baws with that kind of stuff. No huddle, no YNWA. He needs to carve a new career away from that and we don't want to become a tribute act.
Last week, McGinty and Smith were boo'd and then Bryden. This week it was the woman doing the half time draw. I am missing the memos on this. The f**k is going on ?
Thought the three who played up front tonight were poor, we were much better in midfield and the back line rarely put a foot wrong, Albinson had a couple of brain farts again, including a full length two handed save two feet outside the 18 yard box that he got away with. Syla stepped in to Youngs shoes and covered every blade of grass. Dempsey is improving every game.
Still a huge amount of improvement needed but we drew in the same circumstances last week which takes the pressure off slightly and hopefully there is some kind of bounce having a huge name in the door.
