  1. The boot on my car won't open. Nothing fancy, just a handle or a button on the fob. Neither working. Any suggestions?
  2. I'm by no means a concrete expert - would be interested to hear your thoughts.
  3. I was 12 and the next line (for me) was "j'habite a Hamilton en Ecosse". La Famille Garnier by any chance? Bof! Anyway, I'd be quite happy with Vale as he was good at linking up with Bair last season but we'd need to have someone actually capable of putting the ball in the net. Hopefully Stama is that guy when he's eventually fit.
  4. One of the main difficulties is that the concrete doesn't bond as well to the reinforcement. Water ingress can lead to corrosion of reinforcement (which can spall the concrete) easier than normal. The whole building doesn't need to fail, a lump of concrete falling on someone's head can do a fair bit of a damage. As damage is likely to be hidden, it's very difficult for an engineer to say it's safe (their insurers would probably have kittens and advise against it). The council are even less likely to have anyone willing to sign anything saying it's safe.
  5. The difficulty with that is it could last a long time and it might not actually have anything wrong with it at the moment, just no-one is going to say it's ok to live in as you can't see the faults.
  6. Have they come up with any explanation as to why it would cost £360k to rebuild each home, never mind £70k for demolition? These are mental figures that don't bear any resemblance to costs in real life.
  7. What's the FCU? Can we play we one of those games where we make something up? I'll start with Farmers' Casual Unit.
  8. 14 does seem a bit old seeing as a lot of kids make their way to high school on their own and 12 year olds can go to the cinema unaccompanied. Regarding the banning of those being charged, I get that there are rules in place which we have to follow but am very uneasy about these rules. Whatever happened about being innocent until proven guilty?
  9. Or we don't spend money on it, let them destroy it and then pay for repairs. Simples!
  10. I'd be interested to see what age other clubs use. I got the impression it's a preference not to use the lower tier due its deteriorating condition but it's still able to be used if required. Seems reasonable to me until we can afford the large scale repairs required.
  11. Yeah, but it's our turgid pointless garbage. And our lives would be lot emptier without it.
  12. Week 2 - Rangers Week 3 - Celtic Week 4 - Ayr United
  13. My money would be on Johnny Marr for the Manchester gigs, if not all of them. Charlatans and/or Weller would be great as well. I've seen all three in the past year and all were superb.
  14. If they work out the seating arrangements, they should be able to extend the area to cater for the larger visiting supports. As long as it's not to the detriment of the home supporters.
  15. I watched Sportscene earlier today and there seemed to be a lot of empty seats against County. Is this season ticket holders not going to the game or some sort of boycott?
  16. In last week's League Cup game at Motherwell, Kilmarnock made 7 substitutions. Five in the one stoppage (which I'd never seen before but I remember when it was only two subs on the bench), one for extra time and one for a concussion. It was news to me then as well.
  17. The video is impressive and I genuinely hope it gets built. If it's successful, these sort of projects can become the blueprint for others to follow. So far though, the people making the money are the architects (the video being the modern equivalent of guys in black turtle necks building models out of balsa wood), planning consultants and the various consultants producing specialised reports on flooding, transport etc. It wouldn't surprise me though if the architects are still wearing black turtle necks and building models.
  18. They're from Cheshire, so a bit between Manchester and Birmingham I suppose. Normally finish their gigs with the song Sproston Green- a tiny village near where they grew up. https://youtu.be/oYEn5369AMQ?si=RotHroCFtHmqFZxH
  19. The shop guys showed remarkable restraint.
  20. I was at Wythenshawe Park in Manchester on Saturday for New Order supported by Johnny Marr, Roisin Murphy (from Moloko) and Nadine Shah - really good night and very well run. Johnny Marr was on top form - seemed to be really taken with playing a gig so local to where he grew up and brought on his childhood friend Billy Duffy from The Cult, who grew up on Wythenshawe Road, to play guitar on How Soon Is Now. New Order were maybe a touch rusty but still brilliant and Roisin Murphy is as mad as a box of frogs.
  21. I just found out today that my ex-boss passed away at the weekend, roughly a year after being diagnosed. Very fit for his age and was winding down to retirement when it was discovered. Cancer really is a b*****d.
  22. Well done Not feeling too great tonight and that meme made me chuckle.
  23. Yeah, to give him credit, he needs to be in the right place for the ball to hit that forehead
