  1. You are right. Let us know what you’ll do with your extra 40p/week? It seems a big deal to you.
  2. We were at Pete Tong last week, most of the nearby hotels wouldn’t take walk-ins, only pre-bookings. Randomly we ended up in India Quay for a quite magnificent buffet upstairs. You can have as much (me) or as little as you needed (Mrs a-p mkII) and it did the job just fine. And once in, avoid the Hydro wine. It seems to have gained a near mythical status for a weird chemically induced drunkenness and hangovers.
  3. This has been done to death on here - they’re trained to shite in the gutter. How they manage to time it between cars is a whole other issue that seemingly remains unresolved.
  4. I’ve taken the thread well o/t @Inanimate Carbon Rod but I agree with you 100%. But this nonsense must be starting somewhere near the top.
  5. And I see the Poileas are increasingly running about in electric VWs...
  6. @Bairnardo from my experience of having worked for myself for 20 years now: 1: price yourself properly. Your take home will net to about 1/3 of whatever you invoice. 2: you love your customers but without the money you are wasting your time. And they’ll be delighted to let you do that. Be clear with them from the outset - you’re here to get paid. 3: be upfront about 1&2 above. Don’t be fooled into ‘Och we’ll sort it once it’s done’ and deliver a nasty surprise after you’ve done the work. 4: get a proper brand/easily accessible web presence (that is not Facebook). No need to try and be Coca-Cola but do get a proper web page, email address and become a wee bit remote from the random enquiries. @Div is a genius at setting this up for you. 5: the general public are c***s. If in any doubt, see 3 above and bill/get paid your time in advance. 6: it will be both the best and worst thing you will ever do all rolled into the one. If you know what you are doing you won’t need it from me but I wish you the very best of success!
  7. There seems to have been a bit of a cull of this evening’s posts? Mods?
  8. I can never get enough of this sort of straightforward talking. Sadly it seems to be becoming something of a forgotten art on P&B these days. Have a Charles my friend.
  9. Eh? The incumbent Government fabricates a case against its previous First Minister that is then proven to be so full of holes and so incompetent that not one of them could be pinned on him and you think the reporting on the denoument is simply an SNPBaad motivation? I think any party of Government would be subject to the exact same scrutiny, and quite rightly too. And Nicola was operating without full knowledge? Pull the other one.
  10. FWIW, having read his advocate’s summary of his complaints, I reckon he’s got a case.
  11. Without trying to being facetious £6/7k isnt really 'way more'. Yes, it'll certainly help but if you are a 20% taxpayer it'll net out at about an extra £90/week or if you are going to slip into the 40% bracket, an extra £60/week. (the numbers are approximate before any numerate pedants arrive). That you are in a 'profession' suggests to me you'll either be in the 40% or at least flirting with it. If you want the extra stress for that sort of money, take it. To counter that negative position, I'd also opine that the new job salary is likely to be a baseline from which you can further advance your pay if you perform to or above expectation. Go after your current employer for the £6/7k and I'd expect they will then view you as fixed at your pay ceiling and also start lumping more responsibility onto you. Your new employer could of course also turn out to be shit. You won't be the first person to be wooed in a swanky interview room to then turn up at their first day of work and find themselves thrown into in a Dickensian back office, 'just temporary until we find you a proper desk, ok?'. Horses for courses, your call mi amigo.
  12. @coprolite, @Todd_is_God - have you boys escaped from the Covid thread?
  13. There’s been some impressive wage agreements over the last 12/18months. 5/7/10% increases iirc in places. And now a 2% reduction in NIC while the tax thresholds stay static in the face of the inflation that drove the wage increases. Give it a couple of years and the (no disrespect intended) nurses, teachers and polis will very soon be joined by the pizza delivery boys, bin men and bar staff soon to be designated as ‘higher earners’.
  14. Make a big play of trying to manoeuvre out of your space, lots of noise, revving, etc and then just take off, taking her front quarter with you. Yes, it’ll be claim but you’re insured. And on the plus side, you are now guaranteed that no one will come within 12ft of your car from then on.
  15. I think a generally good news story about Prestwick Airport: https://dailybusinessgroup.co.uk/2023/11/military-operations-help-support-prestwick-airport/amp/ The good news: Pretax profit £900k Ryanair, currently employing 500 people, commit for another 5 years Estimated valuation £11.6M I suppose the only fly in the good news ointment being that it has cost SG £52M to get here.
  16. That’s a fetching pair of slippers to go with your HMP Glenochil trackie.
  17. Thanks for this. All a very detailed explanaion of the TRVs but i still think the unknown answer to my question lies in the bit where no-one seems to want to offer a definitive position!
  18. No. Balancing. But if you’ve bought second hand wheels with part worn tyres of differing sizes (mixed brands too I’ll wager?) I suspect you’ve just bought some scrap.
  19. I cannot recall one post on this particular topic framed as SNPBaaad. It is entirely about his incompetence, arrogance and mendacity. You’ve been on this particular hobby horse for two days now and you’re still wrong.
