  1. Very sorry, but he’s not for sale. We love big John (and his song) but, from what I have seen so far, Mandron will get more goals for us than Beeks did. I get that he’s not expected to be your top scorer, but his very good performances were too rare for my liking.
  2. When Clyde signed DG, there was no way I was going to support them any more. My two daughters, also longtime season ticket holders, understandably felt the same way. Clyde forced us into going to see another team, we didn’t ‘choose’ to do so. I’d like to think that even the fans who kept going to Broadwood would understand that, especially with a bit of hindsight. I genuinely hope things improve at the club soon, or the remaining fans won’t have a team (or any live football) to watch.
  3. That’s a fair point. Time for action before it’s too late. Genuinely hope it has a positive impact, but you’re all welcome to join us in Paisley.
  4. Sad to say, but it’s hard to see a way out of this for the supporters. I know that several of the people on the board are also lifelong Clyde fans, but that doesn’t translate into making good decisions or showing genuine leadership. Things have been on the slide since Ronnie MacDonald felt forced to leave the club. After years of poor decisions and bad appointments, the only ‘plan’ left seems to be the move to Crownpoint. Even if this comes off, it’s hard to think that it will spark a rebirth of the club with the present board calling the shots. Maybe it will take a Clydebank-type reboot to halt the decline and instill some pride in the Clyde. Talk of boycotts is well-meaning, and totally understandable, but does anyone think it would change anything at the club? The way things are heading, it is a matter of time before the lights are switched off, the shutters pulled down and the keys are handed back. Time to be calling for an EGM, or hold off until the decision about Crownpoint?
  5. It’s well known that every manager always just needs one more player.
  6. Given that there is no-one ready, willing and able to stage a boardroom coup, would it not be good idea for the current board to seek some advice? I’m sure there must be someone like a Ronnie MacDonald mk 2 who could provide some advice and basic leadership tips to the current Chairman. Maybe the Chairman is too arrogant or deluded to go down that route but, irrespective of the outcome of the Crownpoint project bid, the club needs to start making good decisions soon or it will (totally) disappear from the football landscape.
  7. Looking forward to seeing young Miller on Saturday. Wonder if he’ll be our next signing from the ‘Well, as we are getting a bit low on numbers there.
  8. I am aware that Fish has only recently rejoined Hibs, but surprised that he has been so poor. Can hardly blame fitness issues as he was being used by Man Utd.
  9. Just wanted to say that I thought the team played well on Saturday. When we lost at Montrose, only a few players were decent. It’s clear that we need everyone to play well. If they do, we can beat any team in this league. If they don’t, we’ll struggle to best anyone. Interesting to compare Saturday’s team with the side that lost to Montrose. One (or two?) notable absences.
  10. I switched to St Mirren when Jack Ross was the manager. Fan-owned club, great wee stadium, brilliant fans, genuine team (and community) spirit, same colours, not the Old Firm or Thistle, etc. My family tree goes back from Bridgeton and Dalmarnock to Paisley, so there is that as well. I was born in Crownpoint Road but even the proposed venture would not tempt me back. As I said before, I didn’t leave Clyde, they left me! For a self-proclaimed community club to behave as they have over the last 6-7 years beggars belief. I feel for the fans who still go, but certainly don’t regret moving on (with a heavy heart)…
  11. Reading this thread, I seriously wonder why Clyde fans don’t just stop going. I could rhyme off a long list of good reasons, in particular the contempt that the board has had for the supporters for many years. For me, signing DG (the first time!) was the final straw, especially when no-one on the board could even be bothered to respond to my emailed complaint, despite the fact that I was a third generation season ticket holder of (too) many years. There is life beyond this self-inflicted torture. Stop going; go to see football elsewhere. You might even regain your love for the game and decide to invest your support, and your hard-earned cash, in a proper football club. You know it makes sense.
  12. Ok, place your bets. Random guy or elvis to put us back in our box?
  13. Very sad to hear about Eddie Annand having such a difficult time with his health. Hope his luck turns soon. Clyde could certainly do with him these days.
  14. I have seen some of the away ‘ultras’, aged about 12 to 16 probably, desperately looking for some Saints fans to fight with. Hopefully the club are aware of which sets of fans are most likely to cause trouble and provide an appropriate level of proper security to minimise the potential trouble.
  15. Robbo made the point that he was signing young players with key attributes that he could improve as footballers by coaching them well. Toyosi is a prime example of that philosophy. Just wait until our new striker, Usain Bolt, gets some tips from Robbo.
  16. After a win like that, I’m looking at the upcoming fixtures a bit more optimistically. Yes, we can beat Dundee, then win the cup game, then beat the Dons…. I hope elvis is thinking along the same lines.
  17. I get the impression that you are not keeping up with this thread…
  18. Great win for the lads today. LJ must have real faith in Fish if he thinks he is good enough to carry Marshall, Stevenson, Hanlon and one other clown this season.
  19. Well played Killie. Very impressive performance tonight. Especially happy for the two ex-Saints who were outstanding, Kyle and the milky bar kid. I might regret this come the split/end of season, but happy with that result.
  20. I can’t imagine our keepers enjoy playing at home with the OF fans at their back. I expect that Dundee fans will obviously try to rattle our new number one. I’m sure he will cope though
