Fullerene
Why does the cash machine encourage me to take an advice slip? As in "Take an advice slip and you might win two tickets to a football match" Also, why is it called an advice slip? If it said "Spend this money wisely" - that would be advice. I probably won't but it would still be advice. OR if it said "£20 on Lucky Dan to win" that would be advice too. Instead the advice it gives "You have taken money out on this date" - i.e. today - Yes, I know. "Your balance was this amount. You withdrew £20. Now your balance is this amount. (i.e. previous amount minus £20)" Oh, thank you - saves me having to carry a calculator.

Boostin' Kev
Do Royal Mail do afternoon deliveries as well as in the morning?

In some places, you're lucky if you get one in the afternoon </mydad> Parcelforce deliver separately from the postie now, but that'll be your lot from the regular mail if he's already been round, I'd have thought. If you're waiting on a parcel, try phoning the sorting office to see if they have it, if your postie is one of the lazy bassas who can't be arsed filling the wee cards in.
Boostin' Kev
Have a parcel arriving with an eta of tomorrow but it was dispatched 1pm yesterday 1st class so should be here today. Our mail always arrives around 10am and it wasn't there so was hoping for it to arrive later.

Second class being the "if we get around to it" service Not that I'm complaining about the Royal Mail, BTW, but the window for standard domestic mail delivery is ten working days.
Boostin' Kev
Might vary from area to area but if I get something to the PO by 2.30pm it always arrives the following morning first class.

Aye, they're usually pretty good. Don't send anything second class though
Cardinal Richelieu
I'm waiting for something that was sent first-class yesterday. Thing is, I NEED to get it today, otherwise I might go postal. (there's a pun in there somewhere).

Shandon Par
If he's not waiting on spices, my second guess for throbber is a new coffee table book:

I need to sign it, then forward it on to the next person. All needs to be done by 27th January. And the post has just been and no sign of it. God, I bored myself just writing that. I'm actually waiting on this. I think Stranraer need it this season.
