grumswall
Weird timing to say the least. The board have to get the next appointment right or we could be down here and part time for a long time to come.
Broken Algorithms
I'd happily take Ellis over the likes of Hartley and Duffy. It'd be a bit more of a risk as he's never managed, and always been a coach or assistant, but he's got a lot to offer.
CALDERON
I'd take Ellis too. Happy with Duffy though.
renton
See Matt Elder also going with the deteriorating relationship with the board angle. Not necessarily a good look for the club. No manager, no window to bring players in and limited expenditure for bringing a new manager. Squad size is hardly going to wet the knickers of anyone with any potential. While strong undertones of Jim taking the job at St Mirren continue to rage in the papers, Jim rejects both his old side and Alloa, simultaneously shoving two fingers up to his old teams where he is hailed a hero, to take charge in Kirkcaldy. Where he notably led the Wasps to a comfortable 4-1 aggregate win on the way to gaining promotion to the Championship. I see no problem here.

Specky Ginger
Smith either going to Morton or back to Dundee? McCann's demise must be imminent.
pub car king
I'd take Easton over Ellis if we're going down that route. Part of me thinks the club have engineered this and have been waiting all summer for him to go or to have a horrific start to the league.
Ding Dang Doo
Please not Hartley. Speak to any Falkirk or Dundee fan and they'll make you run a mile from him.I'm pleased this had happened and to be honest it's probably the best timing with the diddy cup approaching. I can only assume Smith wanted to bring in players and the board told him no and to go with the youth instead who clearly he didn't think were up to it. No doubt we'll confirm later on but I did hear at the end of last season there was basically no dialogue between the manager and board. As for who to take over I'm unsure but I don't fancy any of the "usual" lot which will no doubt be touted by the media and bookies.

McGuigan1978
If Smith isn’t on board with running a full-time team on what is essentially a part-time budget, then he’s probably better away. The usual names will be trotted out, and we’d be better off staying clear of all of them if possible. Stubbs, Hartley, Houston and Coyle are all busted flushes, and I’d like to think we don’t go down that route. Of course, we’ll need to see who’s interested, and who knows, we might end up appointing a complete doughball, but as it stands, I can’t say I’m sorry to see the back of Smith. We were a team entirely in his own image, playing dour stuff that was excruciating to watch the vast majority of the time. Inbetween the 5-0 win over East Fife and the 4-0 win over Forfar, I think I enjoyed the 1-1 draw with Ayr, and the 3-1 win over St Mirren in the Irn Bru Cup. That’s not a particularly lengthy list. Get the next appointment right and this is a good thing.
dee_62
Gary Bollan was convinced he’d got the job last time. Now he’s turned the ‘beath around, he’s your man.
Enigma
I can’t see us paying compensation but maybe a wee chance there some sort a clause and we can get Danny Lennon?
Hank Scorpio
Perhaps a contractual issue - as in he wants an extension beyond the end of the season? Squad size/lack of loans maybe? “Deteriorating relationship” would certainly point to one of those things. What now, then? Hartley and Duffy seem like two obvious choices but I’m not sure either of them would guide us towards the play offs in the league above which is what we should really be thinking about with this appointment. McGlynn? My love for Joo Magoo is well documented but I dunno if it’s right. He’d absolutely get us out of this godforsaken hell hole of a league, though. In short, I have no idea. We’ve not had to pay any money for Smith to go which is something at least.

Get the next appointment right and this is a good thing. I think the defining point was playing 4-5-1 away when two goals down to Ayr away in that second game. He had no response at all and it ultimately defined our away form last season. There wasn't any change anda lot of our fans felt it wasn't going to work.
