Absolutely no chance that is in that email on purpose haha.

Hamilton is one of the first on the teamsheet, but we must have a better option than me currently do when he is not fit or has to come off. Rudden fits the bill for me 100%. A good move by the club.

Maybe a bit harsh on yerself...

Rudden is a Rover, just been announced and in the squad for tomorrow

Should do alright for you guys. Not up to Prem standard but should net a few down there.

Thank you.

Not been gullans biggest fan but he always worked hard and he gave us a few moments of magic during his time at the club. Can only wish the guy well.

Rudden on paper should be a good signing. Not one I was clamouring for us to make but he definitely gives us a different option and will hopefully make a big contribution for us.

Really like Jamie Gullan, think he has something to offer someone somewhere. Was becoming more and more difficult to see how he fits into Murray plans though.

Hopefully Rudden gives us something a wee bit different in the 2nd half of the season.

All the best to both.

Am I right in thinking that leaves Ross Matthews as the only player currently in the squad (with Ross and Arnott out on loan) that Ian Murray hasn’t signed or given a new contract to in his time at the club?

All the best to Gullan, seemed like a really nice guy and had some big moments for us. Think it suits all parties for him to move on and hopefully he does well.

All the best Jamie.

His contribution this season should not be forgotten-late goals…winning penalties.

Gutted he’s leaving but right for him and Raith.

Hopefully kicks on in his career.

Gullan's biggest issue is that he's not the best at any one thing, in our current squad. He's not as good a 9 as Hamilton, not as good a 10 as Vaughan, not as good a wide forward as Easton or Connolly.

What he can do is play all of those positions competently. He's the epitome of "jack of all trades, master of none", as far as the final third is concerned. You can play him anywhere and he'll do a job, which is why McGlynn valued him so highly in a tight squad. But now that we've got specialists in all those positions, he's understandably found his minutes limited. And I really don't think there's much of a case otherwise.

It's a move that suits both parties. Gullan needs to be playing first team football week-in, week-out and hopefully he gets that with Dundalk. He's got all the attributes to be a success, and I wonder if he needs to narrow his scope a little, be a little more selfish. If he's played as a centre forward, hang around the penalty spot a little more often, and do less running himself into the ground covering every inch.

He's given us some great moments, and a disproportionate amount of his goals have been very important, but when faced with the opportunity to effectively swap him for Rudden, it's a move I agree with.

Rudden's going to give us a different dimension in and around the penalty box. He brings a physicality and a directness that we don't currently have outside of Hamilton. I'm really interested to see how often they play together, because one big unit is relatively easy to defend against, but two can be a nightmare. Creates selection issues further back, but that's the Ian Murray way.

I presume Watson and Murray are fit for tomorrow since theres no other signings in that dept,

Good luck to Jamie though, shame he never really kicked on, but injuries and lack of quality game time wasnt going to help him, and at least hes not joined back up with McGlynn

Just to add in, we have received a fee for a fringe player who was out of contract this summer. Thats decent business.

Probably worth caveating this: we signed Gullan on a similar deal to how we got Ethan Ross IIRC. They waived a high development fee for him to join us, but on the understanding they'd get a sell on fee. This is just speculation on my part but I'd think Dundalk will have paid enough to cover the rest of Gullan's contract.

The main benefit of him going is that we've lost another McGlynn contract. The club were very candid after McGlynn left that there had been a lack of oversight in deals to players when he was manager leading to incremental rises on a year on year basis for players we signed. That's now Lang, Spencer, MacDonald, Ross and Gullan away from that team with Tumilty and Benedictus leaving at the same time as McGlynn himself.

It wouldn't surprise me if there's no movement but they're still tested for fitness. Watson in particular hasn't played competitively for a few months so might be rusty. I don't doubt that Iain Murray will have no hesitation in waiting a week or so if it means getting the right player in for the squad, whether it's Ashcroft or someone else.

Can't rush signings through so I don't think it's an indication of them being fit for tomorrow that we haven't signed a defender. From what iv heard, and I'm not claiming to be itk, but patience is a virtue with that.

It's interesting to note dundalk announced it on twitter subject to a medical and personal terms. Which you'd think would be a formality anyway but still weird to see.

Murray always seemed enthusiastic when talking about Gullan. It might be he is excellent in training but equally Murray like the rest of us couldn't figure out how to use him to his full potential.

Yeah softly softly catchy monkey as the say, just need to score 1 more than the opposition till its sorted, at least now we should have better penalty box firepower

Same. But one in and one out and Murray clearly rates Rudden over Gullen which I'd agree with in that he more obviously fits our style of play.

Happy with it and looking forward to us spending our undisclosed fee of 5m.
