The New Raith Rovers Thread

Recommended Posts

Don't know what to make of this: on the face of it a cost-cutting measure , getting rid of an unpopular Chief Exec whose role must be much diminished. But is there a sub-plot  a result of wider boardroom shenanigans , and what is it saying about our financial health generally, given we're relying on a thin first-team squad and kids?

As with all things Raith Rovers probably much more to it than meets the eye

.

This will be the first of a few to go. Understand that Young will be the next one and Mario is effectively away anyway with his shares being sold to Sim.

As for Drysdale I can't have any sympathy for the guy. He has been involved in some shocking decisions over the years and last year was the final straw for many. Good riddance.

Apparently he was taking a wage and probably expenses so that should save something.  Maybe he wasn't but he had to be getting petrol money for all the SFA or SPFL meetings he attended.  A little thought who will be going to the meetings now?

The statement says he has been let go as CEO as the position had been made redundant. It doesn't clarify whether he will remain as secretary / director. He was only appointed to some SFA sub committee thingy last week so

You don't wish someone all the best for the future whilst keeping that person on in some capacity, But this is Rovers, so who knows?

It's impossible to have much sympathy for Eric.

I don't doubt he worked hard but he was at fault for farce after farce and didn't take any blame.

Not only was his blaming of fans out of order there was the appointment of Locke, the 2016 season ticket confusion, the disappearing loyalty discount, the keeper farce last season and the lack of financial management. That is just for starters. He alienated people who have backed the club and now has a job as a councillor while taking the same wage out of the club.

Let's hope we get some new ideas and new faces to take us forward.

He undoubtedly worked hard, but frankly, the decision making from last season meant it was a natural decision. I'm sure he'll be thinking "keyboard warriors with no idea of what's going on behind the scenes" which is fair enough, but the disregard for the fans and the decisions made were nonsensical at best. When your team hasn't won a game in two months, you don't moan about fans not attending cup games in the same volume as the opposition. You don't say you've got a list of 'quality candidates', then announce Gary Locke. You don't get found out for not knowing the rules as a board member for the organisation who make the rules.

And above all, you don't loan a striker to a team 4 points below.

Something must be going on.

Why would you suddenly  take the decision on a Tuesday might one week into the new season.

As soon as last season ended all manor of things would be sizes up and costs calculated for the coming year.

Either that they found his mental ramblings as superhans on a work computer.
