Can you think of better talent around some young players like Corr and Hannah? Hanlon would be close to a like for like replacement for Watson, but hopefully healthier, and possibly even more of a presence for younger players. IF we’re in the Championship, I like the idea.
CALDERON
I think Rudden is a better player than Gullan, but I don't think that's helped us. Murray has seemed more willing to start him, which has ultimately lead to Hamilton falling in and out of the team - which isn't great for him. Similar to my thoughts on Turner. Not by any means a bad signing on paper, but these signings haven't made us particularly stronger.

Aye I get where you're coming from Tx, let's hope if they come to us they do stay injury free, after all, we've got history wi bad luck lol and might be a good idea to hang on to Watson as well
renton
Assuming we stay in the championship, a shopping list for me would look like: New contracts for Easton, Byrne, Matthews New LB, new RB, 2 x CBs*, 1x winger, 1 x forward. *if I thought Watson had more in him I'd be happy to keep him around, but point is we need to be running with at least 3 specialist CBs. The winger should be a proper speed merchant.
grumswall
I think (if we where in the championship next season) hanlon and Stevenson would be exactly what we need. Both experienced players who have won this league before and can definitely add something to the squad. Lewis is coaching at hibs I believe, which may mean it won't happen if they give him an extension, but we allowed berra to keep coaching at hearts while with us I think so never say never. I think something that's often overlooked in the youth player development argument is how many of these young players actually come in to the team and actually make themselves undroppable. Bowie was the last one we've had who has really done that. I don't think we've really had that the type that could be knocking on the managers door for minutes with us rather than a loan deal since him. You could argue corr but again, while he's done fine when given the chance this season, he still hasn't looked a better option than brown there for me. I actually think Hannah has all the attributes to be that one based on the limited viewing iv had of him, but it's hard to gauge considering I seen him a handful of times at most. He's one that could really learn from Lewis if he was to sign for us. I also think we will ultimately offer dick a new deal as well, which I'm fine with, if he's to be a backup option, but we really need to improve that area if we want to push on. Strapp is out of contract again soon and I think he would be a more than capable replacement there with the added bonus of his long throws not being against us next season.

Raith_Rasta
A think McNeil has a big future and with Thomson and Dabrowski around him I’d give him a new contract. Solid shot stopper just neeeds to be more commanding with his crosses. But hey McGurn was the same

Try for Chalmers too. 1 hour ago, SerieA said: Easton to Motherwell rumour One Motherwell fan on twitter.

Not convinced Strapp is that great at actually defending. The howitzer throw can be a killer but we need a better defender.

According to the hibee who told me this, it's "one of the worst kept secrets".... Hanlon would hopefully be a fitter Watson which would be just fine for the championship. Stevenson even at his age is an upgrade on Liam Dick who could be used as a utility player/move to CB. He would also be a great player for Hannah to train with. We don't need a huge squad rebuild in the summer other than sorting out the defence and picking up a few players here and there.
RandomGuy.
Was looking through these for Saints players and interesting that Brown remains unable to contribute in attack, and is still poor in defence. Has he been this bad? And do you have people convincing themselves hes good defensively entirely because hes not good offensively and they're deluding themselves?

When he first arrived I had him down as a 6/10 steady Eddie. However, he seems to have regressed somewhat in the last few games. I thought both Matthews and McGill have looked better in recent weeks, despite neither being natural right backs.
Specky Ginger
Just noticed we have Colin Steven refereeing our game on Saturday. I thought facing Imrie's gang that injuries might be our biggest concern, but with that clown in charge, I'd be more fearful of players being suspended for the playoffs.

His general gingerness and overall appearance, combined with his style of play, kind of forces you into thinking hes just a reliable player who lacks something in attack but won't let you down in defence. Then you slowly start to see how little he gives you on the ball and how often he'll lose his man, particularly when defending the back post.

To be fair, if it wasn't for his gingerness, I might not have even rated him as high as a 6/10.

Far better defensively than his predecessor, but no where near as effective as him in an attacking sense. Disappointing that he is being 'airbrushed' out of this season
