The New Raith Rovers Thread

Was fairly obvious after Airdtie that any thought of winning the league could be forgotten.  Try and sneak top 4 would be a successful season

Which players have we lost from last season? We’ve strengthened our defence. Brought in a winger. On The face of it, the issue is Vaughan and Stanton weren’t fit to start the season and now Hamilton is crocked too. Unless someone else starts scoring - Connolly, Easton - then we’re struggling.

If the best we can manage is struggling for the play-offs, it’s looking like a real downer of a season.

Hopefully this new manager can turn things round, but the lack of goals is going to make any manager struggle.

You could offer several mitigations today, that missing Brown, Vaughan, Hamilton and Stanton really hurt us. Having no right back so playing Stevenson on the wrong side. That we actually defended alright besides the absolute meltdown for the penalty, and had the game turned into a torpid 0-0. That it would have been difficult to mount any kind of comeback after thst.

But we look miles off of it, particularly up top. Not sure what the plan is, even everyone is back. It still doesnt look like we have a settled plan A, let alone a plan B.

Getting a manager in will help, getting players back will help but it already feels like a long way back.

Let’s be honest. Our board going to sound out David Healy when he quite literally turned down Preston North End is ridiculous. The comparisons of his current club and Raith Rovers to PNE are mahoosive. Raith and Preston will never see European football. Linfield being smaller than both clubs will. If David Healy does eventually leave LFC it’ll be for a club with an actual chance to progress in Europe

Wasn't it reported he'd agreed terms?

Why is it ridiculous? Maybe the challenge is appealing to him!

I thought Matt elder had reported that and I trust him when it comes to the club he supports to not report nonsense tbh.

He’s not at the FFP anymore, social media and big corporations are out for the clicks and likes

Manager wise we will just have to see what transpires over the weekend and fingers crossed 🤞 we can get Healy or whoever in soon.

Personally hope it is Healy cause fed up with all the jobber names that have been mentioned such as Fox and the like.

We have no chance of enticing guys like Healy or managers already in secure jobs without dishing out serious money. Healy in particular has a chance of reaching the Euro’s with Linfield why would you leave a club on the up. By the looks of things we are utterly bang average and we’ll be lucky to finish mid table.

Linfield won the NI league for years, they last played in the challange Cup 2 years ago and lost to Kelty Hearts. Yes they can get to Europe. To lose in two games and back to playing in a league no better than Scottish league 1.

Are you forgetting that we have seen European football, albeit 30 odd years ago whose to say we cant do it again, also the standard of Scottish Championship football is a good bit higher than the N.I. league
