I am leaning towards the Butchershop but will decide in the coming days. Porter and Rye does look quality though. Will be staying down that end of the town so that we dont end up frequenting the usual pubs etc and try some different places.

We had the Porterhouse in the Butchershop. It was easily the best steak I’ve ever eaten. It was also by far the most expensive.

And what did Kiev say when you took their chicken?

Made my first foray into the world of ramen today. A fairly simple effort, but it tasted pretty good. Gonna get some pork belly tomorrow and have another bash.

Sesame oil

a basic tare I chucked together

Chicken stock with garlic ginger spring oinion and a couple dried mushrooms

Noodles

sesame seeds and spring onions on top.

Red peanut curry tonight.

In a mixing bowl, coconut milk, red curry paste and peanut butter. Combine into sauce.

fry off red chili mixed with garlic and ginger, add chicken and some chicken stock. Season with salt and pepper.

Add sauce mixture. Add one sliced red pepper. Season with fish sauce and palm sugar. Simmer for 10/15 minutes.

serve with Jasmine rice. Garnished with some coriander and sliced green chili.

marvellous.

Someone has spilled their bowl of cornflakes on that haddock.

Probably, quite tasty though. Poached in the oven with a crispy top.

I am going to try doing this.

Just to make sure though, when you say fish sauce, it's this type of thing?

Spaghetti and meatballs tonight.

Basic. Meatballs from down the Lidl, brown them with diced mushroom and onion then add passata with some paprika and chilli powder or similar.

The kids hate it, so I get two extra portions and an excuse to send them to bed early for not eating their tea. Perfect.

Will do a sweet potato and red pepper risotto later with a wee side of feta baked with rosemary speared through it and some onion and wee tomatoes. Risotto is a tremendous excuse to crack open a bottle of wine and booze in the kitchen in peace.

That’s the one Shaggy. Also if struggling to source palm sugar, brown sugar would be a handy substitute, or possibly tablet? (Not tried That but that’s what palm sugar reminds me of..)

Give it a go though, its awesome!!
