This is my garam masala mix, tastes pretty good

1-2 tbsp cumin seed

1-2 tbsp coriander seed

1-2 tsp mustard seed

1/3 cinnamon stick

1/4 of a nutmeg

1 bay leaf

8-10 cloves

6-8 cardamom pods

a few black peppercorns

Heat it all in a dry pan for a bit, then grind it all up.

Almost identical to mine, with the exception I add some ground ginger.

*P&B gets to tell me, Mrs B decides.

I took the missus to Porter and Rye for her birthday and it was fantastic.

I am leaning towards the Butchershop but will decide in the coming days. Porter and Rye does look quality though. Will be staying down that end of the town so that we dont end up frequenting the usual pubs etc and try some different places.

Not tried there yet but i've only heard good things.  It had been a while since I was out in Finneston but there are loads of new places that have opened up.

We had the Porterhouse in the Butchershop. It was easily the best steak I’ve ever eaten. It was also by far the most expensive.

Made my first foray into the world of ramen today. A fairly simple effort, but it tasted pretty good. Gonna get some pork belly tomorrow and have another bash.

Sesame oil

a basic tare I chucked together

Chicken stock with garlic ginger spring oinion and a couple dried mushrooms

Noodles

sesame seeds and spring onions on top.

Red peanut curry tonight.

In a mixing bowl, coconut milk, red curry paste and peanut butter. Combine into sauce.

fry off red chili mixed with garlic and ginger, add chicken and some chicken stock. Season with salt and pepper.

Add sauce mixture. Add one sliced red pepper. Season with fish sauce and palm sugar. Simmer for 10/15 minutes.

serve with Jasmine rice. Garnished with some coriander and sliced green chili.

marvellous.
