The older folk in my street used to do it back in the day I still do because I'm a mug. The other fit and healthy neighbours don't bother their arse. Anyway cat litter is a good alternative to salt for gritting icy pavements The rumour used to be if you cleared the area outside your house and someone was to slip you could be held liable for them falling, sounds a load of shite to me.

If you don't touch it and they fall, you're okay.

I'll save you the trouble of looking it up. Fucking loads is the answer. Caused a car park to collapse in Wolverhampton in 2003. DA Baracus
I'm completely ambivalent about Messi. I don't have any sort of footballing affection for him as I did/do for many other footballers. I was wondering why this is and then I realised that it's because I've hardly actually seen him play. When I was younger I'd see loads of top footballers due to Football Italia, MOTD, the Champions League, UEFA Cup and Cup Winners Cup, all of which were on terredtial TV. The European competitions felt more special as they hadn't yet been watered down and 'fixed' for the big teams like they became. However out of the aforementioned sources, I only watch MOTD now. Haven't watched Champions League games or Europe League games for years and don't have any interest in them at all. I've only really seen Messi a few times when playing at the World Cup, and I've not seen all of Argentina's games. Therefore the few times I've seen him he hasn't particularly stood out as potentially the greatest player ever and I've been a bit disappointed, aside from a couple of moments. I'm not saying he isn't a great player or anything like that. Just that I feel totally 'meh' about him.

I saw him take the absolute piss out of Hibs for half an hour at Murrayfield in a friendly, is that enough proof of his greatness...
